According to nj.com, Giants WR Victor Cruz is “playing the role of Green Bay’s Randall Cobb and being moved all over the field, 100 receptions is a possibility.” SMITTY: Eli Manning, who threw 27 interceptions last season, was the problem in 2013, the problem wasn’t Victor Cruz. Cruz went from pulling in 86/1092/10TDs in 2012 to producting 73/998/4TDs in 2013; I think Cruz can easily replicate his 2012 stats if Manning gets back to playing just ‘decent’ football. Odell Beckham and Rueben Randle will play well enough in 2014 to provide Cruz with some space…
  • 5 Bold Running Back Predictions for the 2014 Fantasy Football Season

It’s fantasy football season. Training camps are in full swing and we’re counting down the shockingly few days that separate us from another NFL season. Naturally, that brings the winds of bold predictions. I’ve got my own concerning the 2014 fantasy football season – particularly at the running back position: 1. LeSean McCoy breaks Chris Johnson’s NFL single-season yards from scrimmage record of 2,509 yards. With a consistent passer at the QB position in 2014, the Philadelphia Eagles will be flying high on all cylinders. LeSean McCoy averaged an easy 5.1…

He might be worth a late round pick, but this year is Bernard Pierce’s year to shine, he’s holding all the cards. Rookies are notoriously unreliable for fantasy football purposes, but there have been a number of exceptions to that rule in recent years. There were a number of highly talented position players selected early in the 2014 NFL draft, and a few of them should be put in great situations right off the bat this season. The Jacksonville Jaguars have a plan. It’s called Toby Gerhart. The team continued it’s complete rebuild on both sides of the ball this offseason, with the signing of former Minnesota Vikings running back Toby Gerhart being arguably the biggest. Per head coach Gus Bradley, Gerhart gives them a true “workhorse back” that can handle “20-25 touches” per game. Bradley went on a hunt for his own Marshawn Lynch-esque runner after last season, and while some remain skeptical of Gerhart’s ability, it’s very possible he found him. A bruiser at Stanford,…

The post Rookie Redraft Values appeared first on Fantasy Football Xtreme.Despite the hype they receive from pre-draft coverage through the OTAs with their new teams, rookies disappoint in redraft leagues and this year will be no exception. Most fantasy owners focus on the rookie running backs in redraft leagues as they have the shortest route to earning playing time. This year will be no exception, but the talent level is not what it has been in the past. Fantasy owners should not expect similar production to what they have seen in the last few years. Per CBS, The Bills may be willing to trade Spiller. I don't see it happening barring a major injury to a starter somewhere. Who would trade for him? Who needs a RB right now? I'd expect the Bills to field calls for running backs if contending teams continue to lose them (Vick Ballard and Kendall Hunter already out for the year). Buffalo has more backs than it needs, probably, and C.J. Spiller, in the final year of his deal and with no extension in sight, could be the odd man out. I anticipate Fred Jackson being a Bill for life, and he could end up with a few new years on his deal, and the…

All fantasy owners have the same questions regarding first-time pros—should I trust a rookie with high potential in a prominent role on my fantasy team? The answer is yes, but it depends on the rookie. Not all rookies are created equal. With Graham and Gronkowski being the top 2 at the position, and my first choice of Calvin Johnson being taken with the 6th pick, I felt that picking Graham would be the best way to start off my team. Graham was by far the most dominant fantasy tight end last year scoring 211 points over 50 more than the next tight end. Graham has caught 36 TD’s and has over 3,500 yard receiving over the past 3 years.

  • Vikings Extend Breakout Candidate Tight End Kyle Rudolph

    Adam Inman
    27 Jul 2014 | 8:16 pm
The Minnesota Vikings agreed on a contract extension with Kyle Rudolph worth $36.5 million dollars over the next five seasons keeping him in Viking purple through the 2019 season. Rudolph has posted solid numbers but has been a part of that middling level of fantasy TE that includes nearly a dozen players that all meld together. This extension is intriguing as new offensive coordinator Norv Turner is thought of as an offensive genius, more specifically, a TE and QB guru. That, combined with the addition of a competent QB in Teddy Bridgewater, should have fantasy owner’s ears perking up…
  • San Francisco Loses RB Kendall Hunter For The Season

    Fantasy Football Junkie
    26 Jul 2014 | 8:52 pm
The San Francisco 49ers lost, backup running back, Kendall Hunter to a torn right ACL during Friday’s practice. Hunter, who was entering the final year of his rookie deal, will be lost for the entire season and will look to regroup in 2015 probably on a one-year deal.  Since entering the NFL in 2011 he has certainly been a productive player behind Pro-Bowler Frank Gore, but has seen his work decrease in each of the three seasons. Now that the 49ers have rookie Carlos Hyde likely to take over the backup role this season, Hunter’s time in San Francisco could be coming to an end. …

Top 51-70 Fantasy Producing Wide Receivers for 2014   In 2013, we had 23 wide receivers surpass the 1,000-plus yard receiving plateau. There could of numerous more in that category but players such as Victor Cruz 998 yards, Larry Fitzgerald 954 yards, Marques Colston 943 yards, Mike Wallace 930, Wes Welker 778 and Roddy White 711 yards who are normally in the field, failed to reach the mark. In 2013, we had 23 total wide receivers surpass the 1,000-plus yard mark, 4 more then 2012, (19) and 6 more then in 2011, (17). The league continues to transform into the big play, down the field game…

Ray Rice Suspension: Laughable or Just Right? For those of you who may have been out of the loop this NFL offseason, Ray Rice has been featured on a couple of headlines. The Baltimore Ravens’ running back was arrested in February in connection to a certain incident that occurred at an Atlantic City casino. The incident was between Ray Rice and his then fiancée, now his wife. The police reported that Rice struck his wife, Janay Palmer, resulting in her becoming unconscious. Reports also stated that there is video surveillance showing Rice knocking out his wife. Ray Rice was entered into a…

David Wilson 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook New York Giants running back David Wilson got very good news just recently.  The 23-year old player, who suffered a career-threatening neck injury, is reportedly cleared to play by his doctors.  He is now participating at team practices and training camp and the best thing of all, he can and he is ok to receive body contacts. Although Wilson is fit and healthy to play, it doesn’t mean you can be sure about him in a fantasy football perspective.  Fantasy owners shouldn’t immediately rush out and draft him just because he can play…

When Will the NFL Next Have A Team In Los Angeles? The NFL and city of Los Angeles are all-in in terms of having an American football team once again that will represent the city of angels. Since the departure of the Los Angeles Raiders and Los Angeles Rams, L.A. by far, is the largest U.S. market without an NFL team.  This year however, Los Angeles might finally get a team they can call their own. Although they are quite positive that they can be seen once again at the NFL map, the big question are, WHEN and HOW. Los Angeles Bills? At my previous article about the Buffalo Bills, I stated…

    25 Jul 2014 | 6:42 am
Will the Bills Leave Buffalo? New speculations and rumors that the Bills will leave Buffalo soon are spreading like a wildfire. These rumors must end in here, right now! Why? Simply because, despite the death of the head of Buffalo Bills, Ralph Wilson, the team will surely remain in Buffalo for the next 5 years or so. Before Ralph Wilson died at the age of 95 last March 25, 2014, he made sure to extend the franchise’s lease at the stadium named after him over a 10-year span. That extension period began 2013 that includes a buyout option available after the 2019 season. Technically…
  • Who Will Be the Cleveland Browns Starting QB in Week 1?

    Fantasy Guru
    25 Jul 2014 | 6:38 am
Who Will Be the Cleveland Browns Starting QB in Week 1 The Cleveland Browns are facing a tough decision this offseason. They already made the gutsy, yet smart move of taking Johnny Manziel in this year’s draft. Now they must decide if he is ready to jump right into the starting role at quarterback. If he isn’t, then they need to choose who is. Personally, I think Johnny Manziel was nicknamed “Johnny Football” for a reason. I don’t think you get that nickname unless you can really play football at a high level. Maziel is only 21 years old, so he does have a lot to learn still.

  • 5 Bold Running Back Predictions for the 2014 Fantasy Football Season

    Nick Ercolano
    27 Jul 2014 | 4:22 pm
It’s fantasy football season. Training camps are in full swing and we’re counting down the shockingly few days that separate us from another NFL season. Naturally, that brings the winds of bold predictions. I’ve got my own concerning the 2014 fantasy football season – particularly at the running back position: 1. LeSean McCoy breaks Chris Johnson’s NFL single-season yards from scrimmage record of 2,509 yards. With a consistent passer at the QB position in 2014, the Philadelphia Eagles will be flying high on all cylinders. LeSean McCoy averaged an easy 5.1…

The summary of the 2013 Miami Dolphins goes as follows: Richie Incognito took Jonathon Martin’s lunch money one too many times last year. Martin got fed up and left the team. Surprisingly, despite the circus that took place over the following months due to the constant media attention, the Dolphins finished at a respectable 8-8. After all the controversy of last season and with quarterback Ryan Tannehill taking 58 sacks, the Dolphins will look to turn over a new leaf, specifically with their offensive line. They went ahead and signed tackle Branden Albert through free agency for five years.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the iconic NFL franchises, and they are going the wrong way-fast. With the losses of Ryan Clark, Brett Keisel, and Lamarr Woodley, the Steelers are in the midst of an excruciating rebuilding project on the defensive side of the ball. Even if it works for the D in 2014, their success will certainly come at the expense of the offense. Jerricho Cotchery and Emmanuel Sanders were allowed to walk away in free agency. Instead of going after a top wideout, they signed Lance Moore and Darius Heyward-Bey for peanuts. Heath Miller will turn 32 and only scored once…
  • Breaking Fantasy Football News: Kendall Hunter Tears ACL in Practice

    Tim Young

Kendall Hunter‘s knee gave out on him during the San Francisco 49ers’ Friday practice. Saturday morning, the team found out the fourth-year running back had sustained a torn ACL, likely ending his season. Hunter was set to be the primary backup to an aging Frank Gore. Gore’s production declined last season, as he appeared to be starting to age. With Hunter unavailable, rookie Ohio State product Carlos Hyde should take over as Gore’s sole backup. Hyde is a big bruising back that could be a nice change of pace to Gore. Hyde’s work in the passing game will need a…
  • Breaking Fantasy Football News: Toby Gerhart to Get 20-25 Touches Per Game?

    Kevin Roberts
    25 Jul 2014 | 2:58 pm

  • NEWS: Lamar Miller to finally be utilized in 2014?

    Smitty
    27 Jul 2014 | 11:34 pm
According to the Miami Herald, the Dolphins reportedly have hopes that Lamar Miller “can play the role of LeSean ‘Shady’ McCoy’ — the Eagles’ running back who was wildly productive during Bill Lazor’s year with coach Chip Kelly in Philadelphia.” SMITTY: Lamar Miller was on our Upside Board (bold predictions) last season, and let me tell you, he didn’t fail due to lack of talent. That Miami staff last season refused to use the ultra-talented running back, but Bill Lazor has his head on straight. With a 7th-round ADP, we’re looking at mostly…

According to ProFootballTalk, Seahawks RB Christine Michael left practice on Sunday with a shoulder injury. “He just banged his shoulder a little bit,” coach Pete Carroll told reporters after practice. “They think he will be ready to go on Tuesday.” SMITTY: It doesn’t sound serious, but we will keep you posted once more information becomes available. As it stands now, even though we fully expect Marshawn Lynch to end his holdout prior to Week 1, Christine Michael remains a big-time redraft sleeper heading into 2014, and he remains my absolute #1 “go get” in dynasty,…

According to reports, Browns QB Brian Hoyer took the first-team reps during Browns practice, and he reportedly looked very good. SMITTY: Brian Hoyer was a dark horse of mine prior to the Johnny Manziel drafting; I still think he has strong sleeper appeal, as he isn’t even getting drafted, according to most ADP data; however, his ‘breakout’ ceiling was damaged beyond repair once Josh Gordon, who is trying to avoid a year-long ban via his August 1st appeal, got into trouble. It’s quite a shame Hoyer didn’t get his fair shot with one of the league’s best…
  • NEWS: Victor Cruz could catch 100 passes in 2014?

    Smitty
    27 Jul 2014 | 6:17 am
  • WR Jordy Nelson inks a four-year, $39 million contract extension with Packers.

    Smitty
    27 Jul 2014 | 6:03 am
According to reports, Packers WR Jordy Nelson signed a four-year, $39 million contract extension with the Green Bay Packers. SMITTY: Jordy Nelson is usually underrated, and being 29 and cemented in Green Bay (with Aaron Rodgers locked up through 2019), it’s hard not to like Nelson as a top 25 overall dynasty player right now. Receivers can usually play at a high level through age 32/33, so 3-4 more elite years for Nelson is a long time, yes, even in dynasty. Now the Pack will look to extend Randall Cobb, who also has top 25 overall dynasty appeal. Two receivers capable of top 25 overall…
