Either he is going to spend even more time prepping for games (If that's even possible) or he's going to let his popularity get the best of him. Not surprised he is doing this now, as he will be filthy rich next season.     For all the coverage the NFL receives, one of the realities of the sport is that we truly don’t know the individuals participating in front of us. • Raiders RB Maurice Jones-Drew says he has 'a lot left'

    23 Apr 2014 | 12:06 pm
Maurice Jones-Drew and Darren McFadden are expected to provide the Raiders with an interesting one-two punch out of the backfield this season. Jones-Drew told Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle on Tuesday, "There's no reason why we can't be one of the best one-two punches in the league." But which running back is "one" and which running back is "two" has yet to be determined. The two will battle for the lead role in training camp, and Jones-Drew said that's one of the reasons why he signed with the Raiders. Although he will have to share carries, he knew the Raiders would give him a…
  • Dolphins WR Mike Wallace excited for new, big-play offense

    23 Apr 2014 | 11:48 am
Bill Lazor has replaced Mike Sherman as the Dolphins' offensive coordinator this year, and one of the differences between their systems appears to be that Lazor's stresses more down-the-field throws. When wide receiver Mike Wallace was asked Tuesday to describe the style of Lazor's offense, he said, "My style: big-play offense. I see Ryan [Tannehill] is excited about it. He's called me eight, nine times." FANTASY ANALYSIS: Head coach Joe Philbin has downplayed how different this year's offense will be from last year's, but Tannehill also mentioned that deep throws will be more prevalent.

As expected, the Raiders unloaded quarterback Terrelle Pryor on Monday. Less expected is that they actually got something in return for a player they were going to get rid of soon anyway. Pro Football Talk first reported that the Raiders have traded the athletic QB to the Seahawks. PFT adds that the 49ers were also very interested in dealing for Pryor, but Seattle won out. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Raiders received a seventh-round pick in the deal. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Kudos to Oakland's brass for gaining an extra pick. The Raiders were reportedly going to cast off Pryor by the…
  • Bears sign WR Josh Morgan

    21 Apr 2014 | 2:44 pm
Marquess Wilson has some more competition in his quest to become the Bears' No. 3 wide receiver this season. Chicago signed 28-year-old wideout Josh Morgan on Monday to a one-year contract. Morgan has spent six seasons in the league, the last two with the Redskins. He caught a career-high 48 passes in 2012. He has never topped 700 receiving yards in any year. FANTASY ANALYSIS: We're scraping the bottom of the barrel now. Morgan is about as run-of-the-mill as they come. His biggest strength may be his blocking, which means very little to fantasy owners. Wilson is still the early favorite to…

    18 Apr 2014 | 8:48 am
As far as fantasy football philosophy is concerned, few theories contend no position is more pertinent to one's success than running back. With the options being generally rather talent-strapped, the room for error when selecting a back for your championship hopes is extremely small. Sure, it's fun to have a big-arm quarterback and electrifying wideouts, but it's all for naught if your backfield situation is unstable. If you're lucky enough to snag a pair of top-tier backs, you'll likely have the inside track to your league's playoffs. If not, you could endure weeks for fruitlessly…

This is the team everyone hates to love. Yep, in that order. Everyone loves the Minnesota Vikings. Adrian Peterson could not be cooler, he fights so hard for the extra yardage. It is really impressive, just watching his loyalty to the Vikings and his passion for the game. Unfortunately for Peterson, the Vikings are fucking terrible. The NFC North is pretty stout and I don’t see a lot of promise for this organization over the next few years. The gaping hole at quarterback is showing all the flaws. They should take Manziel at QB immediately if he falls to them. But newly named Head Coach…

I’m going to start off by saying that I love the potential of Cordarrelle Patterson. The key word being ‘potential’ because at the minute, that’s all it is. He’s still a very raw talent but his rookie season will have put him in good stead for the future, as you could see that he was improving with every game towards the end of last year by scoring 4 touchdowns in his last 4 games, including the 35 yard rushing touchdown against the Chicago Bears. That touchdown against the Bears has lead to some people labelling him, “The next Percy Harvin”, but…

Tony Romo is infamous for his ill-timed decisions, and his seemingly constant failure to perform when it matters most. In his eight seasons as the Dallas Cowboys’ starting quarterback, Romo has led the team to the Playoffs three times, winning just one game. He has drawn recent criticism from a former NFC East rival in the shape of retired ex-Redskin London Fletcher, and has been a polarising player for quite some time. Despite his shortcomings for the Cowboys, Tony Romo has been a valuable fantasy starting quarterback over the past few seasons. Since 2009, he has averaged 237.74…

I started up a league back in the 90’s when I lived in Texas, and part of the fun for me was developing helmets, uniforms, and histories for all of our pretend teams. One of the guys named his team the Waterloo, Iowa White Whales. Well, you’ve come this far, so you might as well take the full leap of faith. Part One and Part Two of this series were made of up players who, while undervalued,  still have some value, at least in terms of ADP. This group will consist of players who just about everyone has given up on, including myself. From my experiences in the last seven years of dynasty leagues, I’ve learned to never be surprised if, and or when the ‘light turns on’ for a player. Some are stuck with injures and never get a chance, some need multiple years to get a feel for the NFL and some are battling demons…

    Russell Clay
    20 Apr 2014 | 4:30 am
As I mentioned in part one, this group I focus on today will have a lower hit rate and less upside. While that doesn’t sound appealing, they also come at a fraction of the price, so it evens out. In short, these are some of the players you may want to draft in rounds 8 to 14. These aren’t the type of players you should be counting on at all. However, second tier values are nice to have in your pocket and can be a pleasant surprise, just like when you forget money in your jeans and randomly find it one day – that’s the mentality you should have, draft them and be willing to wait.

Fine, he’s not actually homeless. I suppose six-percent ownership in Yahoo! leagues is something. But between that and his $491,000 salary (a pittance, really), dude could really catch a break. That’s where you come in fantasy owners. Give this guy a place to stay. Give him a spot on your fantasy roster. Don’t get it twisted. He won’t just…

He is a little miracle isn’t he?Photo Credit: Johnny Spasm Most fantasy writers have no problem recommending players you should go after, but do they really pick up all the players they hype up? If a player is good enough to sit on one of my teams, then surely they are worthy of your attention. In this inaugural edition of “Shit I Do,” I thought it would be important to lay down some ground rules for how this…

Justin Blackmon: 2014 Rebound Player or Cautionary Tale? Wide receiver Justin Blackmon, the Jacksonville Jaguars 2012 fifth overall draft-pick could certainly be classified as an enigma for fantasy league owners.  In his 2012 rookie season he was highly productive with 64 catches, 865 yards and 5 touchdowns at the receipt end of the often inconsistent passing arm of ex-Jags QB Blaine Gabbert.  He was the number one target in Jacksonville offense that year, looking to Jaguar fans as a bright and shining new toy in the offensive toy box. Then when 2013 rolled around, to everyone’s…

Oakland Raiders 2013-14 Fantasy Football Recap No one expected the Oakland Raiders to return much value in fantasy football in 2013. Of course, some hoped star running back Darren McFadden would finally stay healthy (he didn’t) and realize his insane upside. And there was also a slim chance wide receiver Denarius Moore could become more than a shaky WR3. But really, this is still the Oakland Raiders we’re talking about. This is a team that hasn’t consistently won in ages and was about to walk into the 2013 NFL season with Terrelle Pryor as their starting quarterback.
