Sammy Morris feels 'good' for Sunday
20 Nov 2009 | 7:29 pmThe New England Patriots' backfield is about to get a little more muddled. With injuries sidelining Sammy Morris and Fred Taylor for the past month, it was clear that Laurence Maroney was the team's No. 1 back, with Kevin Faulk pitching in. Last week, Maroney fumbled near the goal line against the Colts and that led to more carries for Faulk. Now it looks as if Morris is ready to return from his Oct. 18 knee injury. Morris participated in a full week of practices for the first time since his injury and said that his recovering knee feels "sore but good." Morris is still not sure if he will be… -
Cedric Benson doubtful for Sunday

As in, it probably won't be until game time that he is ruled out for Sunday's contest at Oakland. Benson suffered a hip injury last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. If Benson is out, Larry Johnson would make his Bengals debut, but Bernard Scott is expected to start against the Raiders, and Brian Leonard will get some touches as well. In terms of how much he would play against the Raiders, Johnson would not predict…

2009 NFL Barometer: Week 11
20 Nov 2009 | 7:50 pmAnother week goes by, and Indianapolis and New Orleans are still undefeated. Collision course for February? The Saints have a very easy matchup this week against the Buccaneers, while the Colts have to take on the Ravens in a game that has them as the underdog. A 9-0 team as an underdog? What? In the race [...] -
2009 NFL Barometer: Week 10
13 Nov 2009 | 9:45 pmAnd then there were … still two? The Colts were scheduled to lose this week, leaving but one defeated team remaining, but a Houston fumble late in the first half coupled with a field goal pulled to the left at the end of the game conspired to give Indianapolis another win, though it can be [...] -
2009 NFL Barometer: Week 9
6 Nov 2009 | 8:14 pmAnd then there were two. Baltimore completely dismantled the formerly-undefeated Denver Broncos last Sunday, and it doesn’t get any easier for Josh McDaniels and the gang, as the world champion Steelers come to town for a Monday night brawl this week. Pittsburgh has had an extra week to prepare for this game, and they’re currently [...] -
2009 NFL Barometer: Week 8
31 Oct 2009 | 7:26 amAnd then there were three. Minnesota’s loss to defending champion Pittsburgh has left just three undefeated teams in the ranks of football, with all three unsurprisingly heading our Barometer for Week 8. Don’t work Viking fans — the Purple People Beaters didn’t fall far, as they are now the only one-loss team in the league. A [...] -
2009 NFL Barometer: Week 7
23 Oct 2009 | 4:36 pmAt the beginning of the season, who could have imagined the Broncos would head into their bye week 6-0? Week 11 Consensus Start/Sit
21 Nov 2009 | 7:09 amGreetings from Northern Virginia - I only have time to get up the consensus picks and a quick link or two before I hang out with my mom; my apologies but moms come first. Link love first: If you'd like to see me hopefully turn around my sinking ship with Fighting Chance Fantasy's Five Game Parlay, well, good luck to you. Here's hoping it's not another stinker of a week for me... Two of my favorites are Rotoworld and KFFL.com. -
Lots of Week 11 prep
20 Nov 2009 | 7:22 amDid you all know that the Panthers are the only team that has never defeated the Dolphins? Wow. Perhaps those of you who live in a land where your cable company and the NFL Network can agree upon viewing terms did know that, perhaps heard your announcers talk of this stat. But since I can't stand to "watch" the game on NFL.com (there's no watching, it's like an extended painful halftime where every once in a while you're taken to a brief clip of the game), I ended up bailing on most of the game. In the future I'm thinking of switching to Westwood One's broadcast of Thursday Night games. So… -

Rockstar links for Week 11
19 Nov 2009 | 8:31 amI am a rockstar. Okay, not really, the closest I've ever come to rocking an instrument was the recorder back in 3rd grade. But I was living like a rockstar last night, somehow hanging out with my husband's old college buddies until 3 AM. As someone who is frequently in bed by 11 most Wednesday nights, this was a rare occurrence. When we left the bar though there were still plenty of others going strong on a Wednesday night; I mean, who are these people?! How do so many folks have schedules that allow them to be out and about like that in the wee hours of a Wednesday night turned to Thursday… -

20 Nov 2009 | 9:07 amNot that it has any impact on fantasy football at this point, but it appears that the Buffalo’s recently-made-backup quarterback Trent Edwards could be on his way out of town soon. 20 Nov 2009 | 6:19 amA followup to yesterday’s post on Ricky, where I concluded: What it all boils down to is this: tonight is huge for Ricky Williams owners. Why I Hate Fantasy Football
20 Nov 2009 | 10:10 pmSo I'm sitting on my couch one day and I see the SportsCenter highlights, of the now infamous, "Jones-Drew kneel down." The first thing that pops into my head is how intelligent and smart of a football play that was. The next day I applauded Jones-Drew on my sports radio show as someone who is unselfish and exactly what the NFL needs. But then that ugly word reared its' head to spoil the fun once again. "Fantasy." You all know what it is I'm sure I don't need to explain. Basically because of a game that means nothing, a great play that should be enjoyed is ruined, scrutinized and berated. -

NFL Survivor Picks Week 11: Steelers, Patriots, and Cardinals
20 Nov 2009 | 1:44 pmThe New Orleans Saints put last week’s top three picks into a bit of jeopardy with an uneasy win over the St. Louis Rams, but the Saints, along with the Baltimore Ravens and Minnesota Vikings, gave me a clean sweep in Week 10. The Ravens pick seemed a bit dodgy on Monday night with the nil-nil tie at halftime against the Browns, but they eventually got interested enough in the game to score and shut out Cleveland. It is hard to believe I watched that entire game, but I guess that is what fantasy football does for a person. At least this Monday’s game looks a fair bit better—Tennessee… -
Cleveland Browns: Kick Them While They're Down—NFL Fantasy Football Rankings
20 Nov 2009 | 11:55 amI'm not someone that usually writes a downer piece about an organization or a team...but it's time to talk about the Cleveland Browns and their situation. After an embarrassing loss this past Monday night to the Ravens , it's easy to see why fantasy football owners will have continued success against the Browns. This offseason, I was able to see some positives for the Browns and thought that they could be headed in the right direction. I liked the fact that head coach Eric Mangini traded away his top five draft pick and received a bunch of picks in return. Not only did the Browns acquire more… -
Fantasy Football Week 11 Running Back Rankings
20 Nov 2009 | 10:48 amWe already got a taste of fantasy success if we had DeAngelo Williams or (better yet) Ricky Williams in our line-up on Thursday night. However, injuries and roster shake-ups constantly change our fantasy perspectives every week, so take a look where we rank the top 35 running backs for Week 11 : 1. Chris Johnson @ HOU 2. Maurice Jones-Drew vs. BUF 3. Adrian Peterson vs. SEA 4. Ray Rice vs. IND 5. Rashard Mendenhall @ KC 6. Frank Gore @ GB 7. Steven Jackson vs. AZ 8. Brandon Jacobs vs. ATL 9. Kevin Smith vs. CLE 10. LaDainian Tomlinson @ DEN (Fantasy Riser) 11. Pierre Thomas @ TB 12. Cedric…

Studs and Duds, Week 11
18 Nov 2009 | 4:48 pmWow what a weekend it was in the NFL. We had MJD hurt many fantasy owners by taking a knee at the one-yard line, Cutler throwing five interceptions in one game and finally one of the most exciting regular season games in history between the Pats and Colts. Many of the big names produced last week and I see no reason why they cant repeat their efforts this weekend. Plus fantasy owners might be scrambling to fill lineups with all the injuries to big name players during week ten. Once again this week we have a Thursday night game between the Dolphins and Panthers, so check your… -
Looking Back (disappointments)
13 Nov 2009 | 11:09 pmMy Draft Day Demons:WR Josh Morgan - Morgan is public enemy #1 here at ffblog.net. The situation seemed perfect: young, emerging, talented receiver who was the #1 guy by default and Crabtree's holdout was looking like it was going to last for awhile. I drafted him in 3 leagues as he was one of my bigger targets this season. Granted I didn't use any high draft picks (10th round was the highest I reached for him), but the reason he's public enemy #1 (or the reason I haven't slept well at night the last couple months) is because his situation was… -
Looking Back
12 Nov 2009 | 11:14 pmWith the fantasy football season more than halfway over and the playoffs rapidly approaching, I think it's time to look back and see who the players are that we drafted in the pre-season and are now the reason we're either starting to look at our player's playoff schedules or coming up with reasons and excuses for missing the playoffs. My Draft Day Saviors:TE Brent Celek - Probably my #1 savior this fantasy football season. I drafted him in 3 of my leagues as a backup TE. Now....he's my starting TE on all 3 teams, stepping in for the injured Daniels,… -
Studs and Duds, Week 10
12 Nov 2009 | 11:10 pmThis week has some great games (Colts vs. Pats, Eagles vs. Chargers and Cowboys vs. Packers) but it also has some games that look bad on paper (Ravens vs. Browns, Saints vs. Rams and Vikings vs. Lions). This means some of the highly drafted players will put up some big numbers. This is also the first week that the NFL plays on Thursday night, where the Bears travel to San Francisco to take on Frank Gore and the 49ers.STUDSQB Philip Rivers- Rivers had a good week against the Giants as drove the Chargers down the field for the win. This game has an opportunity to be a shootout… -
Studs and Duds, Week 9
5 Nov 2009 | 10:59 pmThis week has some great games lined up. The Pats will try to seek revenge on the Dolphins after losing the division last year and the Texans might have one of the biggest games in franchise history as they travel in to play the Colts in Lucas Oil Stadium. The Sunday night and Monday night games also look very good on paper. The Eagles host the Cowboys and the Steelers travel to Mile High to take on the Broncos. This is also a good week for fantasy owners because there are only a few big name players on bye minus any Vikings players.STUDSQB David Garrard- Last week this pick burned me as the…

Ladainian is Done
12 Nov 2009 | 9:47 amHe was fantasy football’s brightest and most consistent star for a long time, but LT the fantasy stud is done. At this point, he’s not even a good play vs. average defenses. He’s averaging a pitiful 3.2 yards per carry and has been virtually shut out every game except for Oakland who he has hit up for all 3 of his season TDs. His stats are hurting but it’s not from a lack of will. Ladainian is trying his hardest to dispel critics that say his career is over, but he just doesn’t have it anymore. My conclusion is running backs that are workhorses for 5… -

Is Steve Smith Better Than Steve Smith?
25 Sep 2009 | 11:04 pmThere was a time when Steve Smith of the NYG was off the radar. He didn’t even need to be distinguished from the Steve Smith of Carolina because it was so obvious you were talking about the only relevant Steve Smith, the one on the Panthers. Now, I think Steve Smith of the Giants is the better of the two. He’s huge in fact. With Plaxico out of the picture, he’s become Eli’s primary target and now gets major catches and is even more than a possession receiver. Though I’ve heard that he doesn’t have WR1 talents or athleticism (like I would know if… -
Server Problems: Yahoo Fantasy Sports Not Working
13 Sep 2009 | 1:59 pmI’ve noticed that the major fantasy football sites are having trouble loading today. Maybe they should have used some of their fantasy football cash to buy some more servers. Among those having trouble are: Yahoo FantasySports, ESPN.com, NFL.com, and MyFantasyLeague. I hate the NFL new broad overlook. You have to click a tab each time you want the specific game stats. I much preferred the older, lower tech game results. Yahoo Sports is killing me because I can’t see any of my teams or matchups. So much for Free Stat Tracker. It’s worthless if I can’t see my… -
Herd Mentality: Is it in You?
23 Aug 2009 | 3:14 amThere’s a herd of buffalo around the fantasy football world. Some don’t know the herd exists. Some know the herd exists but don’t know there in it. Others are watching the direction of the herd so they can take full advantage. These people are called sharks. Become the shark.

Here is the exact transcript from Blackberry Messenger. I found it hilarious.QUOTE Bro: Trade me Smith if you get Chad.Me: No can do...Bro: Oh well i'll just keep Beanie.Me: If I get Chad. Friday Fantasy Starts and Sits – week 11
20 Nov 2009 | 4:50 pmThe upcoming weekend slate is a just a couple days away, so it’s time set your line ups. Below are my recommendations for this week. Why should you listen to me? Well, first of all, always listen to yourself first. If there’s a guy you really like, than go with your gut. Otherwise, I’m the defending Champ of my 12 team Yahoo! League after losing in the title game the year before (my first year in the league), and after expanding to 14 team, I’m rocking first place again. I’ve been in eight fantasy football leagues since 2006 and never finished lower than third. I’m… -

20 Nov 2009 | 3:19 pmWelcome once again to a recap of our weekly finds from around the internet. As always, we begin our journey by fortifying ourselves with a piece of cheesecake. This week, at Chris’ request, that cheesecake is Padma Lakshmi, the host of Top Chef on The Food Network. I have to be honest and say I’m curious to see what kind of traffic the combination of cheesecake and Padma Lakshmi drives. Padma’s geek credentials are strong. Besides her work on The Food Network, she has been a runway model, the love interest in an EELS music video, Sean Bean’s nemesis in…

Fantasy Football Running Back Start/Sit Rankings (Week 11)
20 Nov 2009 | 4:59 pm*Rankings with detailed comments will be available Friday. Any additional updates that are necessary will be posted no later than Saturday in the final Week 11 (2009) rankings.1. Maurice Jones-Drew (JAC) – He is coming off of a great week 10 performance against the Jets that could have been even more impressive had MJD not taken a knee at the 1 yard line to set up the Jags game winning field goal. The questionable move did not sit well with fantasy owners, but Jones-Drew should easily make up for it in week 11 against a pathetic Buffalo run defense. Not only has the Bills defense allowed an… -
Fantasy Football Quarterback Start/Sit Rankings (Week 11)
20 Nov 2009 | 4:49 pm*Any additional updates that are necessary will be posted no later than Saturday in the final Week 11 (2009) rankings.1. Drew Brees (NO) – There really isn’t much to say here. You have one of the NFL’s most dangerous QB’s facing one of the NFL’s most fantasy friendly pass defenses. Brees should light up the Tampa Bay secondary all day and he is a must start fantasy option for this extremely favorable match up in week 11.2. Peyton Manning (IND) – It wasn’t long ago that a match up against Baltimore would bring cause for serious concern, even for Peyton Manning owners, but this… -

Andre Johnson (HOU) – No one loves a match up against the Titans more than Andre Johnson. In his last 2 games against Tennessee (1 last season and 1 this season), Johnson has accumulated 21 receptions for 356 yards and 3 TDs. While Tennessee has shown significant improvement in their pass coverage over the last few weeks, you still have to love Johnson’s chances against this secondary. He has a ridiculous track record of success against them and the Titans are still… -

Team Defense Rankings–Week 11
21 Nov 2009 | 10:03 amIn this column we will be highlighting some of the team defenses that aren’t among the best in the league, but might be able to help you if you are one of those people who play the rotating game with your DEF, or if your team is on bye. I will not tell you to start any of the following in this article because they teams that should be started pretty much against any opponent: Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants, New York Jets, Green Bay Packers, San Diego Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Indianapolis Colts Two Matchups To Target Detroit Lions vs. -
Five Game Parlay–Week 11
20 Nov 2009 | 4:23 pmI only have one word for Week 10…..UGH! Three of us combined for one win, and only Jeff Mans was able to break the .500 barrier. Mr. Mans has also officially dug himself out of a huge early hole and has actually taken over the lead! That’s not a typo. The guy who looked like he was going to make a permanent home out of the basement has moved on up. To the East Side. To a deluxe apartment in the sky! We finally got a piece of the pie! Fish don’t fry in the kitchen, beans don’t burn on the grill…..sorry about that. The best news of the week for… -
Who To Start, Who To Sit–Week 11
18 Nov 2009 | 11:16 pmQuarterbacks Start: Jay Cutler, Chicago Bears vs. Philadelphia Eagles. OK, yes I did see almost every snap of Cutler’s five interception game last Thursday against the Niners, but if you look at his season as a whole he is still having a pretty solid season. Through nine games he is still on pace to throw for over 4,000 yards and should be able to get to the same 25 touchdown passes that he had last year. No one was crushing him when he had nine touchdown passes in a four week period earlier in the year. Cutler still has a big arm and a ton of talent and he will snap out of… -

$ Fantasy Fallout from Week 10 RB Injuries
17 Nov 2009 | 12:46 pmWeek 10 of the 2009 season will most likely be remembered for the Colts-Patriots game and the controversial decision by Bill Belichick to go for it on fourth down. But there were other stories elsewhere, many of which pertained to running backs. Five starting running backs went down this past week, some with more serious injuries than others. I will analyze both the short-term and long-term effects of these injuries as well as fantasy ramifications associated with them. Cedric Benson – After seven carries vs. Pittsburgh, Benson had to leave the game with a hip injury. Coach Lewis… -
Week 10 Review: Targets
17 Nov 2009 | 10:18 amIt’s Tuesday, and with all games having been played, it’s time to get going on our weekly routine of looking at targets from the previous day’s NFL action. - Michael Crabtree, San Francisco 49ers: Early in the game between the 49ers and the Bears, it looked like Crabtree was going to have a monster contest, as San Francisco quarterback Alex Smith seemed intent on pumping the ball into Crabtree as often as possible. But that plan soon dissipated and Crabtree received just seven targets fr the game. Still, it’s an indicator of what the 49ers think of their young first-round pick, and… -
8 Tips to Remember for Week Ten
14 Nov 2009 | 3:02 pmAfter Randy Moss, Ben Watson is Tom Brady’s second favorite target to throw at in the redzone. But Watson does not make for a good play against Indianapolis on Sunday due to the way the Colts all but eliminate the opposing tight end from the gameplan. They have only allowed one touchdown to a tight end all year and that was to Vernon Davis who leads the NFL in TD receptions. A sleeper defense is the Tennessee Titans. Though they are statistically ranked last in passing defense, much of that can be attributed to All-Pro CB Cortland Finnegan’s injury. In the three games Finnegan… -
What NFL records and milestones could be reached this year?
12 Nov 2009 | 12:38 pmThrough the midpoint of the 2009 NFL season, there are several personal milestones and NFL records that many players have set. I will detail these accomplishments as well as ones that are likely to be achieved at some point during this season. Cedric Benson has 71 carries over his last two games. That is the most number of rushing attempts in consecutive games by a player since Dave Wannstedt accelerated Ricky Williams’ retirement plans by having him rush 76 times over a two game span in 2003. If Benson gets 33 carries vs. Pittsburgh, then he will break the NFL record for most rushing… -
Fantasy Leaders by Position
11 Nov 2009 | 7:08 amNow that we’re about at the halfway point of the NFL and fantasy football season – if there is such a thing in a 17-week season – it seems like a good time to take a look at the leaders at each position in terms of fantasy points to see how things have shaped up to this point. We’ll start, naturally, at the quarterback position. QUARTERBACKS Aaron Rodgers is tied for third in touchdown passes in the league, and just sixth in the NFL in passing yards, so how could he be the No. 1 player at his position in fantasy points? The answer is really quite simple: running the ball. His 214…

Week 11 Hot Hand and Cold Shoulders: Twilight Edward vs. Jacob, who ya got?
19 Nov 2009 | 12:26 pmI know nothing of Twilight. I like it that way, but this debate that’s been raging across all my television channels, including my sports channels, has annoyed me to no end, especially because they used my name. From what I can gather, my namesake Jacob is a werewolf who is loyal and the complete “nice guy.” Figures. Edward, on the other hand (and correct me if I am wrong), is a total douche of a vampire who’s the “dangerous” one. Also typical. I have no allegiance to either camp; in fact, I’d love if this book series, or “saga” as the TV loves to call it, disappeared off… -
Fourth & 1 Debate: Strategy adjustments for Thursday Night Football
19 Nov 2009 | 10:20 amLast week’s question for the Fourth & 1 Debate was an interesting one from Eric Stashin of Rotoprofessor, and since I didn’t get a chance to share it last week, it’s worth sharing this week before our second Thursday Night Football game of the season. The question: What adjustments do you make to your fantasy strategy in the second half with games now being played on Thursdays? My answer: Well, for starters, I set my lineups on Thursdays rather than Fridays or Saturdays. I find that helps. But more to the point, by the time that Thursday play rolls around, my fantasy… -
Bye, Bye Ronnie Brown: Foot injury takes RB to IR
18 Nov 2009 | 3:18 pmThe Miami Dolphins have placed Ronnie Brown on IR with a foot injury to end his season. Adam Schefter filed the story this afternoon, and ESPN now has the official word. Apparently, his foot injury was much more serious than we all feared. What does this mean for the Miami Wildcat? Who knows? May not even run it,” a coy Sparano said. “Never know.” But don’t order your coffins yet, fantasy owners. There’s still hope, right? Even though this is most definitely now your fault. Well, there’s always Ricky Williams, who now assumes the duties as starting running… -
On the Wire: Week 11 Pickups, Replacements Justin Forsett, Bernard Scott, and McCoy
17 Nov 2009 | 10:16 amSo now begins our recovery from this great weekend of injuries. It’s all your fault, but I forgive you. This week, we are left with the scraps of all the teams who lost one of their studs. Hot Claims Justin Forsett, RB, Seattle Seahawks — Let’s be honest. Forsett already had a great shot of winning this starting job before Julius Jones was injured. Now that Jones is out of the way, even for just one game, Forsett could be the Seahawks’ starter for the rest of the season. He had 123 rushing yards and one touchdown on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, who until recently had been…

2009 Fantasy Booms and Busts - Week 11
19 Nov 2009 | 9:22 pm1. QB Matt Schaub vs. Tennessee Titans The Titans have improved defensively since the bye week but they’re still vulnerable against the pass. The Texans will pass in order to win on Monday Night and we like Schaub to hook up with Johnson, Walter and Jones for a few big plays and scores. 250 yards and two or three TDs is certainly within reach. 2. RB Maurice Jones-Drew vs. Buffalo Bills The Bills are extremely beat up on defense and haven’t stopped anybody this season on the ground. And that’s not going to start this week. Maurice Jones-Drew has been on fire over the past… -
2009 NFL Picks - Week 11
19 Nov 2009 | 7:55 amIn Week 10, we hit on three of our top four bets against thepoint spread and only missed the money line when Peyton Manning hooked up with Reggie Wayne on the last second TD. For Week 11 Best Bets 1. Pittsburgh Steelers (-10) vs. Kansas City Chiefs The Chiefs will be down WR Dwayne Bowe this week after he was suspended for substance abuse by the league. This is a big blow to their offense and comes just a week after the franchise dumped RB Larry Johnson thus leaving the unit seriously thin from an experience standpoint. The Steelers might be playing without S Troy Polamalu, but against KC, it… -
2009 Suicide Pool Pick - Week 11
18 Nov 2009 | 9:05 pmHere’s our Week 11suicide pool picks in the order we’d select them. 1. Cincinnati Bengals vs. Oakland Raiders So long as the Bengals don’t suffer a letdown, and that’s not likely with this group, getting to 8-2 will be a cakewalk. Expect Cincinnati’s defense to hold the Raiders to under 10 points, and offensively, behind the legs of Cedric Benson and arm of Carson Palmer, to put up between 24 to 30 points in Oakland. This will be an easy win. 2. New England Patriots vs. New York Jets Does anyone think Bill Belichick’s forgotten all the trash talking done by… -
2009 Fantasy Rankings - Week 11 D/ST
17 Nov 2009 | 10:19 pm1. Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Kansas City Chiefs The Chiefs have been abysmal offensively in 2009 and will now be without WR Dwayne Bowe on Sunday. Expect Pittsburgh and its aggressive front to dominate all afternoon and pressure Cassel into mistakes and turnovers. 2. Minnesota Vikings vs. Seattle Seahawks The Vikings defense could get healthier with the return of CB Antoine Winfield, but regardless of whether he returns or not, look for a stellar effort on Sunday. Jared Allen and Co. will make Hasselback’s life miserable and force a few turnovers in Week 11. 3. Dallas Cowboys vs. -
2009 Fantasy Rankings - Week 11 TEs
17 Nov 2009 | 10:02 pm1. Antonio Gates vs. Denver Broncos Rivers favorite target had another solid game with seven catches for 78 yards in their win over the Eagles. He’s our top ranked fantasy football TE in Week 11 and he’ll find the end zone in Denver. 2. Dallas Clark vs. Baltimore Ravens The Patriots did a good job taking Clark out of the game plan yet he still managed to finish with 65 receiving yards. He’ll have a much bigger impact in Week 11and we like him to top 100 yards with a TD. 3. Kellen Winslow vs. New Orleans Saints Freeman’s favorite target had seven catches for 102 yards…

Trainer’s Room: Brian Westbrook Out At Least Until Week 14 Against Giants (Concussion)
20 Nov 2009 | 8:07 pmToday Andy Reid confirmed what most Eagles’ fans and Westbrook owners suspected, which is the Eagles #1 RB will be out at least three games after suffering a repeat concussion last week against the Chargers. Westbrook experienced his first concussion on October 26th, courtesy of London Fletcher, Westbrook returned last week at home only to suffer the same fate. Eagles physicians, who showed reasonable restraint three weeks ago withholding Westbrook for two games, will likely err on the side of caution before clearing him for action again this season. Top Prospects on the Farm: Jason Heyward Starting in Rightfield for the Braves in 2010?
19 Nov 2009 | 1:51 pmI think it’s about time we start discussing prospects who could make a big impact on draft day 2010,both for those who play in traditional Roto/PPA leagues, and those looking to acquire “game-ready” talent in Keeper Leagues. Today, Mark Bowman from MLB.com speculated that the Braves may avoid acquiring for their outfield via free agency this off season because they believe super prospect Jason Heyward could fill the bill in rightfield on the opening day 2010. There is no doubt about talent when it comes to Heyward, it has everything to do with his age—20 years and two…

It’s also worth pointing out that while some of those fantasy football start/sit articles can be useful, they aren’t…

Hideki Matsui, Others From World Series to be Overrated in 2010 Fantasy Baseball
5 Nov 2009 | 5:55 amby Matt SnyderFiled under: MLB Value Machine, Draft AdviceWorld Series MVP Hideki Matsui was an absolute monster (Godzilla?) in the 2009 Fall Classic. In 13 at-bats, he pounded eight hits -- including a double and three home runs -- eight RBI and three runs scored. His OPS for the series was an obscene 2.027. As he was accepting the MVP trophy, there were many items swirling around in my head (there always are, it's a burden, I tell ya!). He's a free agent, the Yankees likely can't justify bringing back both him and Johnny Damon if they want to shore up their starting pitching, etc. There… -
Desert Diaries: Is Josh Bell Ready to Man Third Base in Baltimore?
3 Nov 2009 | 12:22 pmby Knox BardeenFiled under: MLB Kids Are AlrightThe Arizona Fall League is chock-full of young prospects looking to make their mark. Desert Diaries is your twice-weekly look at which of these up-and-comers could make a fantasy baseball splash in 2010.It looks as if there will be a changing of the guard in Baltimore. Melvin Mora, who has 1,323 hits and 158 home runs during his ten year tenure with the Orioles, has been told that his $8 million option will not be picked up. Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun says that the Orioles will look into a number of options at third base this off-season. -
Desert Diaries: Injuries Take Their Toll
29 Oct 2009 | 10:49 amby Knox BardeenFiled under: MLB Injury Report, MLB Kids Are AlrightThe Arizona Fall League is chock-full of young prospects looking to make their mark. Desert Diaries is your twice-weekly look at which of these up-and-comers could make a fantasy baseball splash in 2010. It's an inevitable side effect of playing extra baseball in an instructional fall league -- injuries will crop up. As much as these prospects, and their parent major league team, want to prove that they can make it at the next level, it's also important to avoid injury. Unfortunately that's been proven impossible for a few… -

Player Profiles: Is Miles Austin The Real Deal?
20 Nov 2009 | 5:01 amMiles Austin could either be one of those guys who comes out of no where one season only to let his fantasy owners down the next couple of years, or he could be the next big thing in the league. From what I have seen, he can definitely take over a game when Tony Romo can actually get him the ball, and he doesn’t seem to get any worse when he’s taking on the tougher CBs in the league. But can he be a reliable receiver on a consistent basis moving forward? Numbers through Week 10: TARGETS REC YDS YPR TD 55 31 632 20.4 7 I’m sure Austin was picked up in your league shortly… -

Player Comparison: Adrian Peterson vs Chris Johnson
18 Nov 2009 | 5:00 amA look at two of the top running backs in the league… Adrian Peterson might have been the number one pick in just about every draft this year, but that could change in 2010 with the way Chris Johnson is piling up the numbers this season.
