ESPN's Texans reporter Tania Ganguli was asked Friday via Twitter what the chances are that running back Arian Foster will play Sunday against the Bengals. Her response: "Very, very low." As such, Foster, who has not played since Week 9 due to a groin injury, will likely be replaced in the starting lineup once again by Alfred Blue. The rookie did most of the heavy lifting for Houston out of its backfield against the Browns, rushing 36 times for 156 yards. FANTASY ANALYSIS: It all seemed so promising for Foster after head coach Bill O'Brien said following last week's win that he expected his…

This was supposed to be the year many fantasy football enthusiasts had been waiting for. After spending his first four seasons with the Houston Texans in the shadow of Arian Foster, former second-round draft pick, running back Ben Tate, finally earned a starting role. In three years (Tate spent his rookie season on injured reserve), he showed an explosive burst through the line of scrimmage, breakaway speed and elusiveness that resulted in no worse than an average of 4.3 yards per carry in any season. Oh my, how things changed following Tate's move to the Cleveland Browns. Injury reared its…

Most fantasy football owners have only a few regular season games remaining to make a mark on their leagues. Some of you are set, others are out of playoff contention, but most of you are likely fighting for those few coveted playoff spots. Unless you've been extraordinarily lucky, the injury bug has likely impacted your fantasy team in some way.  If injuries haven't been prevalent enough, we're still not quite done with bye weeks yet!  It's time to start some of those bench players you've been stashing while at the same time cutting loose the dead weight. Let's take a look at which…

The Minnesota Vikings claimed former Browns running back Ben Tate off of waivers on Wednesday, to the surprise of some NFL insiders.  While the initial reaction was that Tate would impact Jerick McKinnon’s fantasy value, that does not look like it will be the case.  There are a couple reasons not to worry in you […] The post Ben Tate vs. Jerick McKinnon appeared first on MyFantasySportsTalk.

    Bleacher Report - Fantasy Football

Through 11 games this season, Carolina Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart provided his fantasy owners with the same old story. They selected him in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts hoping he will finally stay healthy and produce to his full potential only to be disappointed once again. This season, fantasy enthusiasts have been increasingly impatient with the ball-carrier, as he's only owned in 30.8 percent of ESPN.com leagues entering his Week 12 bye. That leaves some underrated value for running back-needy fantasy owners on the waiver wire. But wait. How could Stewart possibly have…

    22 Nov 2014 | 10:34 pm
Reggie Bush said earlier this week that he would play against the Patriots, but it sounds like he has pushed his ETA back a bit. CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora said Saturday that he's "hearing" Bush will be a "no-go" for Week 12 in New England. Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reported soon afterward that Bush actually has his eyes set on playing on Thanksgiving versus the Bears. Bush has been bothered by an ankle injury since Week 5. He practiced in limited fashion throughout this week, but it appears he will miss his fourth of the Lions' last six games. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Not that fantasy…

    22 Nov 2014 | 10:11 pm
Bills running back Fred Jackson didn't play in Week 11, but that was a function of a cramped schedule more than anything else. Head coach Doug Marrone said after the loss to Miami that the four days in between Buffalo's two most recent games didn't give Jackson enough time to recover following his Week 10 return from a fairly serious groin injury. However, time is on Jackson's side this week. When the Bills kick off against the Jets on Monday night from Detroit, Jackson will have had 15 days to get his health in order. Marrone said Saturday that he expects Jackson to be on the field Monday,…

  • Should Drew Brees be allowed to be dropped?

    22 Nov 2014 | 11:49 pm
So the commish in a league I'm in apparently turned off the Can't cut list option when creating the league, which led to someone this past week dropping Drew Brees for Ryan Tannenhill (and used $7 of FAAB).  Brees is currently the #6 QB in my league and I'd imagine would be on the Cant Cut list if there was one.     My question is, should this be allowed, or should the commish step in and do something?  It just doesn't feel right to be able to drop a player with the caliber of Brees, even if he's been underperforming to his standards.

Fantasy football owners will be relieved to hear that Week 12 is the finale of bye weeks, but navigating the waiver wire and assessing sleepers each week are perhaps the biggest keys to winning championships. Everybody leaves the draft with a starting lineup they feel comfortable with, but that quickly changes for every owner—whether it's due to lost playing time, injury or just team ineffectiveness in general. Add that to the inevitable bench players you end up dropping, and your needs will pile up fast. That leaves the waiver wire as a great resource to build depth, especially in a…

So yeah...beast in 2014....the only league I owned him in I won the title....but everyone I've seen writing about Brantley so far this offseason is screaming that regression is inevitable.  (I think he will regress in the power department, myself.  Probably won't steal as many bases either).   So where would you be satisfied with drafting him?  I can't see him lasting past the 4th round in most cases, and I'm having a tough time convincing myself that he's a good bet at that price.  Please convince me otherwise.

In 2014, they went down quite a bit, and those who said that, think that is absolutely still the case.But...going inside some of the numbers, I have a tough time wondering what to make of some of these and how to wrap my head around predictions/value for 2015 on him, so lets look at some numbers:Road HR:…
  • Freddie Freeman 2015 Outlook

At first glance, it may look like Freeman took a step back in the power department in 2014, but he had a lot of extra base hits (65 to be exact, which was 7th in the NL). A little more luck and a few of those 43 doubles and 4 triples would have been HRs.   I admit I've always liked Freeman, so I'm biased. A really short and compact swing and tons of bat speed. RBIs were also down in 2014, but that's more of a product of the hitters setting the table in front of him. Big jump in selectivity and walks.   Freeman isn't the most exciting option at first base, but he's durable and…

We hit on a few long-term investments at wide receiver last week. With news breaking and injuries healing up, it’s time to talk about stashing running backs this week, if you can get to them first on the wire. Adrian Peterson plead “no contest” to a lesser charge this week and got one step closer to returning to an NFL field. He’ll now have to face whatever suspension the NFL wants to throw at him…or none at all. There’s talk he could get credit for “time served” while he sat out on the exempt list these first 8 games and return as soon as Week…

Week 8 was a fantasy feast and gave us a peek at what a few young receivers could do if given more opportunity. If you need an immediate play, check back on previous waiver wires for suggested pickups. But if you’re looking for a difference maker down the stretch, one of these four might be the answer. Martavis Bryant had a bit of a coming out party against the Colts in Week 8 as he scored twice, but he’d already found the end zone in his first game action in Week 7. Bryant seems to be on his way to supplanting Markus Wheaton to play beside Antonio Brown in this recently…

Amazingly, it’s another good week for the running back needy, and some of you likely lost your starters this week with C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson going down. I would have hoped you’d replace Spiller by now, but I know it’s hard to give up on those preseason plans. I’ll typically assume most previous pickup suggestions have been secured in your league each week, but be sure to snag any Giants receivers that are available as they go on bye this week. That offense could get back on track when next we see them take the field. I’d also prioritize Branden Oliver…

I’m enjoying riding the Branden Oliver train after his performance in Week 6. While he didn’t do as well as he did in Week 5, he held up well as a feature back with 30 carries. I’ll take that all day until Ryan Mathews returns. Ben Tate, Branden Oliver, and Ronnie Hillman have all proved their worth at this point. Andre Williams will need another week to see if the Giants offensive line will show up for him. Keep your eye on Mark Ingram, who should return to his leading role for the Saints this week as long as his health cooperates. Isaiah Crowell is also on my radar in a…

Top Pick 1. Cincinnati Bengals (+2) vs. Hou – See money line bet. Next 2. San Francisco 49ers (-9) vs. Was – RGIII is horrible and will find the going that much tougher facing a stingy 49ers D in San Francisco. The 49ers have offensive troubles of their own but this will not be much of a contest. 3. Must Start Dez Bryant, AJ Green, Demaryius Thomas, Calvin Johnson, Brandon Marshall and Jordan Nelson Tier 1 Jeremy Maclin vs. Ten – Maclin will top 100 yards and 2 TDs. Emmanuel Sanders vs. Mia – This is a tricky game but it’s tough to slow down the Broncos receivers. Check his status Sunday morning. Alshon Jeffery vs. TB – The Bears other receiver will top the century mark with a score. TY Hilton vs. Jax – Look for Hilton to top 100 yards with a long TD. Golden Tate vs. NE – He’ll be heavily featured in the passing game. Solid in PPR. DeSean Jackson vs. SF…

The series comes to an end with one final look at off-season ADP risers and fallers: the rookies. I found it fascinating that over five months of mock drafts between March and August, some players’ stock remained completely intact despite all the changes around them before and after the NFL Draft. For example, Derek Carr’s March ADP of 207 was exactly the same in August. Similarly, former UCF combo of Blake Bortles and Storm Johnson experienced very contrasting draft weekends, yet they both only fell by one spot in ADP (164 and 178 in March to 165 and 179 in August). Did our opinions…

  • Fantasy Football Week 12: Not Enough Cooks in the New Orleans Kitchen

    My name
    19 Nov 2014 | 6:57 pm
Most fantasy football owners have only a few regular season games remaining to make a mark on their leagues. Some of you are set, others are out of playoff contention, but most of you are likely fighting for those few coveted playoff spots. Unless you've been extraordinarily lucky, the injury bug has likely impacted your fantasy team in some way.  If injuries haven't been prevalent enough, we're still not quite done with bye weeks yet!  It's time to start some of those bench players you've been stashing while at the same time cutting loose the dead weight. Let's take a look at which…

    My name
    11 Nov 2014 | 8:46 am
Many fringe fantasy football players put up respectable numbers in Week 10.  These were players you likely picked-up on the cheap, but were forced to play due to bye week casualties or injuries.  Players like Odell Beckham, Mike Evans, Martavis Bennet, Justin Forsett, Golden Tate, and Brandin Cooks all posted solid numbers that likely helped your cause if you were smart enough to start them last week.  On the other hand, several big-time players were fantasy duds in Week 10.  These sub-par performances likely balanced-out your team's overall output.  But rest easy…

Alright gamers we’re more than half-way through the season, but still uncomfortably in the middle of bye weeks.  Injuries are starting to pile up and many of you are on the fantasy football playoff bubble.  For those owners who are struggling, you've likely been riding several players that were never intended to be mainstays in your line-up and you’re conflicted about whether to keep starting them or not.  Your fantasy train is moving forward and you need to gain momentum for your playoff push.  Read-on to find out which players will position your team nicely…

With bye weeks upon us and injuries piling up, there are several fantasy-relevant players in Week 9 that were barely on fantasy radars at the beginning of the season.  Every year these surprise players routinely play a major role in championship runs but are seldom played with confidence, and understandably so.  Regardless of your confidence level, line-up stagnancy in a cardinal sin among successful fantasy owners, so it’s time to keep things moving as you battle to get the most out of your roster.  Consider these potential plays if you’re looking to fill gaps in…

Just in time for National Fantasy Football Draft Day (who knew?), I've launched Cheat Sheet War Room version 2.24. This release includes a couple long-overdue features (such as the ability to include multiple positions in a single cheat sheet) and even a bonus tool (think fantasy draft prank) that I think you will like. Let's kick things off by talking about some major functional improvements. Multiple Positions Per Sheet CSWR 2.24 marks a significant step-forward with a much-requested (and admittedly belated) feature: multiple positions per sheet. This feature should have been implemented…

Welcome to Week 12. Time has really flown by in this fantasy football season and it is do or die for most players. It is the week before the playoffs begin and you need to position your team in the best place for the championship run. Plus, there is the added turn of the winter weather that will change the way some games are played, especially here in Western New York (remember the Buffalo Bills vs New York Jets will be played in Detroit on Monday night). So, study the weather and factor the conditions in the setting of your lineups at this time of year. Remember: This column is not designed…
  • Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders expected to play Week 12 vs Dolphins

    Jonathan Nardone, Twitter Handle: @JNardone87
    22 Nov 2014 | 6:56 am
The Broncos have officially listed WR Emmanuel Sanders (concussion) as probable for week 12 at home against the Dolphins. FFLockerRoom Sports: This is great news for owners who have been relying on the Peyton Manning to Manny Sanders hook up this season. Sanders has been a huge producer for all team owners since week 1 with his new team. He has been able to record at least 8 or more targets in 8 of 10 games this season which has lead to 5 or more receptions in 8 of those 10 games as well. Truly there has been just one week that Sanders has not been productive but every other week he has come…
  • Colts TE Dwayne Allen ruled out for Week 12, Coby Fleener to start

    Jonathan Nardone, Twitter Handle: @JNardone87
    22 Nov 2014 | 6:50 am
The Colts have ruled TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) OUT for week 12 against the Jaguars. Tight end Coby Fleener will get the start and see a increased role. FFLockerRoom Sports: With Allen sidelined with a ankle injury, Coby Fleener becomes a must start option as long as Allen is inactive. Allen has recorded just 26 receptions and 374 yards through 11 weeks but has been a big redzone option and has been able to find the endzone in seven of ten games. Fleener has stepped up his game as well over the past few weeks recording 60-plus yards and/or a touchdown in four of the last five weeks and with…
  • Redskins TE Jordan Reed ruled out for Week 12 vs 49ers

    Jonathan Nardone, Twitter Handle: @JNardone87
    22 Nov 2014 | 6:38 am
The Redskins have ruled out TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) for week 12 against the 49ers. FFLockerRoom Sports: Reed pulled his right hamstring in last week’s loss to the Buccaneers. A left hamstring pull earlier this season cost him four games. There’s no word on the severity of this injury, but given his history and his inability to practice we’d consider him extremely worrisome. Back up tight end Niles Paul filled in very nicely early in the season and was a great addition for owners who were waiting on Gronkowski to return to form. Now, Paul gets another chance to shine. In…

Are the San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl Contenders? Before the new NFL season has started, the San Francisco 49ers is one of the teams highly ranked as Super Bowl contenders. With a good finish last season, they are expected to do more and win big this season. But it seems like they are having some sort of trouble or struggle this year. • Week 12 Fantasy Football: Buy or Sell Jeremy Hill, Jonas Gray, Tom Brady, and More

    Tim Young
    21 Nov 2014 | 4:25 pm
The trade deadline has come and gone. Depending on your league, there are either 2 or 3 weeks remaining before the playoffs. Byes are mostly done, so in an ideal world, you can just sit and let your starting lineup take care of business the rest of the way. Unfortunately, we do not live in an ideal world. We live in a world of stress, a world of injuries, and a world of uncertainties. We live in a world with real-world fantasy football issues. Issues like Jonas Gray are neither black nor white. It’s unclear how the Bengals will split touches between Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill. Is…
  • Week 12 Fantasy Football IDP Sleepers to Help You Win

    Jonathan Pollak

Before we begin the Week 12 defense and IDP sleepers, a quick digression of a personal nature. I won in one league last week by 0.5 points, and lost in another by 0.8 points. I am OK with that, however. I’ve said before and I still stand by it: I’d rather lose by 0.001 points than wind up stuck in a tie. We have sophisticated scoring systems nowadays, especially in IDP leagues – there is no reason anymore to treat, say, 92 yards and 98 yards as the same thing. If your league doesn’t use fractional scoring, then I urge you to harass your commissioner until the league…

What sleepers might you turn to in your IDP leagues in Week 11? Let’s take a look. D/ST Sleeper: Washington Redskin Potatoes – Their D has been inconsistent, but they host the awful Bucs this week, so they could be a great waiver wire fill-in. Look for two or three sacks and two turnovers at the least. DL Sleeper: Everson Griffen, Minnesota Vikings – The man has nine sacks in half a season – he should no longer be considered a sleeper – but the Vikes are coming off a bye, which means he was available in 32% of CBS leagues last week. For me, it was Matt Forte and Ronnie Hillman who stunk it up. Now, I have to rely on Mark Sanchez to seal it for me since I lost Nick Foles. All I can see in my dreams is the infamous “butt-fumbl.” Only now……I’m not laughing. Let’s get to my start/sit calls for week 11. (Dallas, NY Jets, Jacksonville, Baltimore on BYE) START QB, Teddy Bridgewater, Minnesota Vikings Minnesota takes on the Bears in week 11 and I…

  • ARTICLE: The #5 Dynasty Player for 2015 and beyond is…

    23 Nov 2014 | 12:47 am
Below is an early look at 2015, but from a dynasty perspective. So, not only am I predicting for the 2015 season and beyond, keep in mind that the assumption being made here is that if you owned one of these players in a dynasty league, you’d keep them for as long as you want, which changes ‘values’ quite a bit. The scoring assumed here is a standard PPR and the line-up requirements are assumed to be 1QB, 2RBs, 3WRs, 1Flex, 1DST and 1K. Enjoy! View No. 5 Overall Now!Talk About This Now! • NEWS: Reggie Bush (ankle) not expected to play Week 12.

    22 Nov 2014 | 4:42 pm
SMITTY: This news makes both Joique Bell and Theo Riddick sneaky-good flex plays this week. Riddick has all the PPR upside, whereas Bell could either have 50 yards rushing or 90 and a touchdown. It’s risky to count on either, but with Bush out, they are both worth considering in the right situation. See where we have both on our Week 12 Power Rankings. • NEWS: Marshawn Lynch (back) is probable for Week 12.

    22 Nov 2014 | 5:12 am
SMITTY: Despite the tough match-up against the Cardinals, Marshawn Lynch has low-end RB1 upside. He is usually a high-end RB1, but this one will be tough sledding. 70-80 yards and a solid shot at a score is doable for the tough runner. We keep saying it each week, be certain to handcuff Lynch to Christine Michael. Looking for Week 12 Power Rankings? • Week 11 Fanduel and Draftkings Strategy: Daily Fantasy Football Player Picks

    16 Nov 2014 | 6:07 pm
Last week was a tough one, somehow I did really well on FanDuel with my lineups, but ending up not doing as well on DraftKings.  Between injuries to Ronnie Hillman and my Steelers guys (Rothlesberger and Brown) a few of my lineups didn’t perform as well.  I had a feeling they wouldn’t do well, so good thing I only put them in one lineup.  I had one lineup with Sanchez, Matthew, and Olsen, but lost some games to players that loaded up on Eagles vs Panthers game players such as Benjamin, Olsen, Sanchez, Matthew, and Celek Most of my picks and calls were good from last week such as…

Going into Week 11 with just a few weeks to make to playoffs, I think we can all use a win.   Again Im not going to talk about the obvious starts like Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, etc, Im going to mention those middle of the road guys or maybe even a guy like Larry Fitxgerald that has a tough matchup and let you know to sit him.  Similar to what I said last week about Jay Cutler.  I told many of your members to bench him because of his past history of playing at Lambaugh Field. With that being said, many of you are playing weekly fantasy football at sites such as FanDuel and…

Week 8 is in the books and other that waiting to see if Tony Romo’s back is OK we came away without any  major injuries. This week we have six teams on a bye in Week 9 with Atlanta, Buffalo, Chicago, Detroit, Green Bay and Tennessee, so there a lot of fantasy owners looking to fill in rooster space with a lot of standout Fantasy options missing.. In 12-team leagues the pickings are slim at quarterback and tight end. Running back has some guys to target off waivers, but wide receiver is probably the best place pick up guys off waivers if you need one. Check out the list players I put…
