Though our Dynasty Scouts team has been providing analysis on the2015 rookie class for months, the discussion over the crop of young players is getting exponentially louder by the day. I had a feeling that Shane Vereen would get a lot of work last week and he did but he didn’t quite get the love I was hoping for. LeGarrett Blount ended up stealing the show and finished with both rushing touchdowns, leaving Vereen off the hit list for me this week. While that was a disappointing call from week 12, no performance was more befuddling than Josh McCown’s against Chicago. Everything was pointing in the right direction, but he laid an egg. Jay Cutler and the Bears were given the win on a silver platter with turnovers on their side of the field and Cutler barely had to…

    28 Nov 2014 | 7:02 am
The dictionary definition of collusion is "a secret agreement, especially for fraudulent or treacherous purposes; conspiracy".  I see no reason to challenge Merriam-Webster by redefining a word for the purposes of fantasy football.  But, collusive acts can be judged by their key elements; conspiracy and fraud.   The classic example of collusion comes from the business world and is an agreement between companies to fix prices rather than compete in the free market.  This has the elements of collusion most relevant to the fantasy community - cooperation between multiple…

It's difficult to make changes to a lineup that is on the brink of a playoff berth, but fantasy football is not for the timid. Whether you're in desperation mode or trying to stay on top of the standings, all that matters is getting the most possible points every single week. • Fantasy Football 2014: Top 9 Running Backs Owners Must Handcuff Before Playoffs

    28 Nov 2014 | 7:27 am
For most leagues, the 2014 fantasy football playoffs start in one week. It’s time to clear some bench space to handcuff the backups of the most critical starters. LeSean McCoy, DeMarco Murray and Frank Gore owners must pick up Chris Polk, Joseph Randle and Carlos Hyde, respectively, to solidify their playoff rosters. A fantasy handcuff is the actual backup to an NFL starter. The term is usually associated with running backs, but the strategy of insuring a productive starter with his backup can be loosely applied at other positions. It’s an important concept to embrace…

We hit on a few long-term investments at wide receiver last week. Adrian Peterson plead “no contest” to a lesser charge this week and got one step closer to returning to an NFL field. Week 8 was a fantasy feast and gave us a peek at what a few young receivers could do if given more opportunity. If you need an immediate play, check back on previous waiver wires for suggested pickups. But if you’re looking for a difference maker down the stretch, one of these four might be the answer. Martavis Bryant had a bit of a coming out party against the Colts in Week 8 as he scored twice, but he’d already found the end zone in his first game action in Week 7. Bryant seems to be on his way to supplanting Markus Wheaton to play beside Antonio Brown in this recently…

Amazingly, it’s another good week for the running back needy, and some of you likely lost your starters this week with C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson going down. I would have hoped you’d replace Spiller by now, but I know it’s hard to give up on those preseason plans. I’ll typically assume most previous pickup suggestions have been secured in your league each week, but be sure to snag any Giants receivers that are available as they go on bye this week. That offense could get back on track when next we see them take the field. I’d also prioritize Branden Oliver…

I’m enjoying riding the Branden Oliver train after his performance in Week 6. While he didn’t do as well as he did in Week 5, he held up well as a feature back with 30 carries. I’ll take that all day until Ryan Mathews returns. Ben Tate, Branden Oliver, and Ronnie Hillman have all proved their worth at this point. Andre Williams will need another week to see if the Giants offensive line will show up for him. Keep your eye on Mark Ingram, who should return to his leading role for the Saints this week as long as his health cooperates. Isaiah Crowell is also on my radar in a…

Ben Tate Branden Oliver Andre Williams Mark Ingram Knowshon Moreno Ronnie Hillman Odell Beckham Jr. C.J. This is also against the team where he first became head coach. Look for the Giants to pull out an easy win. Next 2. Recently, I’ve been conducting a series of poll questions with the hopes of gauging the dynasty value of the top tier of current NFL players, as well as future rookie picks. Over the past week, I’ve been asking my Twitter followers questions like this… Name the RBs you’d be willing to trade a random future first round rookie pick in order to acquire. #dynasty — Ryan McDowell (@RyanMc23) November 25, 2014 If you read Monday’s DLF Newsletter, you’ve already seen the results of the quarterback poll, along with some of my thoughts on the value of the quarterback position as a whole.

Entering week 13 of the 2014 season, the entire dynasty community is looking toward 2015 regardless of playoff aspirations. Though our Dynasty Scouts team has been providing analysis on the2015 rookie class for months, the discussion over the crop of young players is getting exponentially louder by the day. • Fantasy Football Week 12: Not Enough Cooks in the New Orleans Kitchen

    My name
    19 Nov 2014 | 6:57 pm
Most fantasy football owners have only a few regular season games remaining to make a mark on their leagues. Some of you are set, others are out of playoff contention, but most of you are likely fighting for those few coveted playoff spots. Unless you've been extraordinarily lucky, the injury bug has likely impacted your fantasy team in some way.  If injuries haven't been prevalent enough, we're still not quite done with bye weeks yet!  It's time to start some of those bench players you've been stashing while at the same time cutting loose the dead weight. Let's take a look at which…

    My name
    11 Nov 2014 | 8:46 am
Many fringe fantasy football players put up respectable numbers in Week 10.  These were players you likely picked-up on the cheap, but were forced to play due to bye week casualties or injuries.  Players like Odell Beckham, Mike Evans, Martavis Bennet, Justin Forsett, Golden Tate, and Brandin Cooks all posted solid numbers that likely helped your cause if you were smart enough to start them last week.  On the other hand, several big-time players were fantasy duds in Week 10.  These sub-par performances likely balanced-out your team's overall output.  But rest easy…

Alright gamers we’re more than half-way through the season, but still uncomfortably in the middle of bye weeks.  Injuries are starting to pile up and many of you are on the fantasy football playoff bubble.  For those owners who are struggling, you've likely been riding several players that were never intended to be mainstays in your line-up and you’re conflicted about whether to keep starting them or not.  Your fantasy train is moving forward and you need to gain momentum for your playoff push.  Read-on to find out which players will position your team nicely…

With bye weeks upon us and injuries piling up, there are several fantasy-relevant players in Week 9 that were barely on fantasy radars at the beginning of the season.  Every year these surprise players routinely play a major role in championship runs but are seldom played with confidence, and understandably so.  Regardless of your confidence level, line-up stagnancy in a cardinal sin among successful fantasy owners, so it’s time to keep things moving as you battle to get the most out of your roster.  Consider these potential plays if you’re looking to fill gaps in…
  • CSWR 2.24 Launches /w Multiple Positions Per Sheet & Status Icons

    My name

Just in time for National Fantasy Football Draft Day (who knew?), I've launched Cheat Sheet War Room version 2.24. This release includes a couple long-overdue features (such as the ability to include multiple positions in a single cheat sheet) and even a bonus tool (think fantasy draft prank) that I think you will like. Let's kick things off by talking about some major functional improvements. Multiple Positions Per Sheet CSWR 2.24 marks a significant step-forward with a much-requested (and admittedly belated) feature: multiple positions per sheet. • Jerick McKinnon OUT for Week 13, Asiata due back

    28 Nov 2014 | 1:41 pm
Jerick McKinnon said on Friday that he will not play (back) for the Minnesota Vikings in week 13 versus the Carolina Panthers.  FFLockerRoom Sports: McKinnon had a golden opportunity this week against a terrible Carolina Panthers run defense but now those treasures go to Matt Asiata. Asiata is coming back from a concussion and is listed as probable. He has performed well in the past when given the opportunity and should fare well in week 13. I consider him a FLEX play and he should see 15-20 carries.  I expect Joe Banyard to be his change-of-pace. He played well a week ago behind McKinnon…
  • Diamondbacks sign Yasmany Tomas

    Bill Brennan
    28 Nov 2014 | 6:12 am
Arizona beat out other teams such as the Phillies, Giants and Padres to sign free agent outfielder Yasmany Tomas. The Cuban defector and Arizona agreed on the 6-year, $68 million contract on Wednesday. The deal will include an opt-out after four years and is pending a physical, the sources said. The deal surprised many who thought he could sign a deal closer to $100 million. FFLockerRoom Sports: As with any first time major league player he comes with risk. That being said, the 24-year old showcased his skills during the 2013 World Baseball Classic and certainly passes the eye test with his 6…

Teddy Bridgewater (Minnesota Vikings) QB: Teddy… we had such high hopes for you. But guess what? You get to take on the lowly Panthers this week and that should make things all better.

How will the New England Patriots fare this season? After losing to the Kansas City Chiefs at their Week 4 match (41-14), many pronounced the New England Patriots as dead and done for the season. Starting the new season with a 2-2 record, many expected them to lose even more. For many, their attempt to compete for a fourth Super Bowl championship is over. For many, Tom Brady is quite old for a quarterback and he doesn’t have anything left to win anything this season. Today, it seems like this is not the case anymore. The trade deadline has come and gone. Depending on your league, there are either 2 or 3 weeks remaining before the playoffs. Byes are mostly done, so in an ideal world, you can just sit and let your starting lineup take care of business the rest of the way. Unfortunately, we do not live in an ideal world. We live in a world of stress, a world of injuries, and a world of uncertainties. We live in a world with real-world fantasy football issues. Issues like Jonas Gray are neither black nor white. It’s unclear how the Bengals will split touches between Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill. Is…
  • Week 12 Fantasy Football IDP Sleepers to Help You Win

    Jonathan Pollak
    20 Nov 2014 | 7:44 am
Before we begin the Week 12 defense and IDP sleepers, a quick digression of a personal nature. I won in one league last week by 0.5 points, and lost in another by 0.8 points. I am OK with that, however. I’ve said before and I still stand by it: I’d rather lose by 0.001 points than wind up stuck in a tie. We have sophisticated scoring systems nowadays, especially in IDP leagues – there is no reason anymore to treat, say, 92 yards and 98 yards as the same thing. If your league doesn’t use fractional scoring, then I urge you to harass your commissioner until the league…
  • Week 12 Fantasy Football Start and Sit Calls: Russell Wilson, Trent Richardson and More

    Terrence Kirker

Damn you, Mike Evans! Anyone else have to play him in two leagues this past weekend? Unreal. Ok…..I’m done venting my frustrations. No way to see that one coming. Week 12 start/sit coming up. (Carolina and Pittsburgh on bye) START QB, Alex Smith, Kansas City Chiefs The Chiefs have been nice lately and Smith has been managing the games pretty well. A matchup at Oakland this week with a few dump-offs to Charles out of the backfield will pad the numbers pretty nicely. RB, Trent Richardson, Indianapolis Colts With Bradshaw going down I have to think Richardson can run on the Jaguars…
  • Week 11 Fantasy Football IDP Sleepers: Trust in the Washington Redskins?

    Jonathan Pollak
    13 Nov 2014 | 11:41 am
What sleepers might you turn to in your IDP leagues in Week 11? Let’s take a look. D/ST Sleeper: Washington Redskin Potatoes – Their D has been inconsistent, but they host the awful Bucs this week, so they could be a great waiver wire fill-in. Look for two or three sacks and two turnovers at the least. DL Sleeper: Everson Griffen, Minnesota Vikings – The man has nine sacks in half a season – he should no longer be considered a sleeper – but the Vikes are coming off a bye, which means he was available in 32% of CBS leagues last week. The schedule remaining is…

  • ARTICLE: The #8 Dynasty Player for 2015 and beyond is…

    28 Nov 2014 | 7:36 am
Below is an early look at 2015, but from a dynasty perspective. So, not only am I predicting for the 2015 season and beyond, keep in mind that the assumption being made here is that if you owned one of these players in a dynasty league, you’d keep them for as long as you want, which changes ‘values’ quite a bit. The scoring assumed here is a standard PPR and the line-up requirements are assumed to be 1QB, 2RBs, 3WRs, 1Flex, 1DST and 1K. Enjoy! View No. 8 Overall Now! • NEWS: Julius Thomas (ankle) limited during practice on Thursday.

SMITTY: This feels like a 50/50 thing, and that could spell ‘game-time decision’, so keep checking back. If he is on the field, especially at practice tomorrow, he is a top 2-4 fantasy tight end. Last week, our top buy-high (yes, you heard that right) was Demaryius Thomas, as we expected a monster outing given that Julius Thomas was out. Well, he dropped 10/87/3TDs while picking up some of JT’s targets. Expect that to continue in Week 13 if Demaryius sits. Even if JT returns to action this week, we still love Demaryius as a top 2-5 fantasy WR all the way to Week 17. Peyton…

SMITTY: He has sneaky RB2 written all over him if he in fact plays Week 13. He is an exciting dynasty player to own/acquire right now, too. If you agree, disagree, get on our forums and talk about this very topic! As for Week 13, keep checking back and make sure he practices today. Looking for Week 13 Power Rankings? • NEWS: Andre Ellington (foot) limited in practice Thursday; Is there a reason to worry about Michael Bush?

    Smitty
    28 Nov 2014 | 3:33 am
SMITTY: This could go either way, meaning Ellington could be a huge disappointment in Week 13 (and the rest of the way), or he could be fresh and explosive given the presence of Michael Bush. The limited practice isn’t a concern, as of yet, and either is the presence of Bush, as of yet. Ellington is a fine high-end RB2 with RB1-type upside. Looking for Week 13 Power Rankings? Last week was a tough one, somehow I did really well on FanDuel with my lineups, but ending up not doing as well on DraftKings.  Between injuries to Ronnie Hillman and my Steelers guys (Rothlesberger and Brown) a few of my lineups didn’t perform as well.  I had a feeling they wouldn’t do well, so good thing I only put them in one lineup.  I had one lineup with Sanchez, Matthew, and Olsen, but lost some games to players that loaded up on Eagles vs Panthers game players such as Benjamin, Olsen, Sanchez, Matthew, and Celek Most of my picks and calls were good from last week such as…

Going into Week 11 with just a few weeks to make to playoffs, I think we can all use a win.   Again Im not going to talk about the obvious starts like Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, etc, Im going to mention those middle of the road guys or maybe even a guy like Larry Fitxgerald that has a tough matchup and let you know to sit him.  Similar to what I said last week about Jay Cutler.  I told many of your members to bench him because of his past history of playing at Lambaugh Field. With that being said, many of you are playing weekly fantasy football at sites such as FanDuel and…
