In case you weren’t aware, we have the second of three NFL games being played in London this week as part of the International series. The Detroit Lions will be taking on the Atlanta Falcons at Wembley stadium. Normally these games across the pond don’t make fantasy owners bat an eye but this one is unusual. Instead of playing an evening game that coincides with our normal 1pm eastern kickoff, they will get an earlier game to see how that changes fandom in London. This particular game will kickoff at 9:30am EST and 6:30am PST. That’s right, 6:30 in the morning for those of…

Amazingly, it’s another good week for the running back needy, and some of you likely lost your starters this week with C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson going down. I would have hoped you’d replace Spiller by now, but I know it’s hard to give up on those preseason plans. I’ll typically assume most previous pickup suggestions have been secured in your league each week, but be sure to snag any Giants receivers that are available as they go on bye this week. That offense could get back on track when next we see them take the field. I’d also prioritize Branden Oliver…

Didn't see this yet. Hoping it hasn't been started already. A couple guys I am looking at are Julio Jones and Matthew Stafford.   Julio should succeed with the cake schedule he has after the bye.   Stafford should get Calvin back soon and the falcons are the juiciest of matchups this week.

Mason has played well over the last two weeks against two of the toughest defenses in the NFL. After racking up 40 yards on five carries against the San Francisco 49ers, Mason was a huge part of the Rams' victory over the Seattle Seahawks, running the ball 18 times for 85 yards and a touchdown. 17 Oct 2014 | 7:14 pm
This topic maybe not be a big deal for everyone out there, but for those of us who know how to manipulate such eligibility in our favor, it can be gold.  Depending on league setup, this eligibility can be beneficial in two ways.  For leagues that favor SP heavy categories (W, QS, K, IP, etc.), we want to be able to insert additional SPs in our relief slots.  For those that rely heavily on RP favoring categories (SV, HLD, ERA, WHIP), we seek RPs that can slot into a starter spot.  I'm sure some can utilize both types of strategies within the same…

Signed until 2020 and has a club option for 2021 (15 mil or 5.0 mil buyout). For the next 6 years he's inked at 20 million a season.   Is that reasonable in this day and age? Compared to what Hanley will get, Tulo will be a bargain if he stays healthy. Well if you own him... get used to that bolded phrase!   If he has another monster 1st half I expect him to be traded. Hope he's doing his hip-strengthening excercises!
  • Matt Harvey 2015 Outlook

    15 Oct 2014 | 6:33 pm
This should be a highly debated thread.   Harvey had a chance to pitch at the end of 2014, but Mets played it safe and kept him out. He was reportedly throwing mid-90's in September in his bullpen sessions. He seems to be on track for an "ordinary" offseason program.   Some of the big questions:   1. Will velocity be back to normal? 2. Will velocity be consistent? 3. How many innings will he pitch? 4. Will he throw with same accuracy? 5. What is he worth in a standard draft?   I'll try to tackle some of these questions...   1. Most pitchers have gotten back their…

Both Bryce Brown and Anthony Dixon should be picked up this week.  But who should you grab? It looks to me like Dixon will get the first crack as the lead back.  He has 27 carries for 137 yards.  Last week when Jackson and Spiller went out.  It was Dixon who got the call.  Rushing for 51 yards on 13 carries.  Over his career, Dixon has never really carried the load for a team.  Dixon’s rookie season he had 70 carries and that is by far the most in a…

Mandatory Credit: Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports Week 7 is through. With a few injuries to report (especially in Buffalo), a major trade that included the reigning Super Bowl Champs and players whose stocks are rising (including one in Cleveland you should check on), there is plenty on the waiver wire for fantasy owners to exploit. The running back carousel continues to spin as fast as ever in the NFL, likely resulting in significant ramifications for your fantasy football teams. This week, two of the performances that are sure to catch the eyes of fantasy football owners came from St. Louis Rams running back Tre Mason, and Jacksonville Jaguars running back Denard Robinson. Mason appeared to replace Zac Stacy as the Rams’ primary running back, rushing 18 times for 85 yards and a touchdown against a tough Seattle Seahawks defense. In fact, Mason was on the field for 27 snaps to Stacy’s one, while Benjamin…

Good afternoon owners! I hope last week treated you better than the Redskins have treated Kirk Cousins. Last week was a surprisingly intriguing one for fantasy owners. As we enter the second half, it’s the time that separates the champions from the runners-ups. Most owners don’t set up their team to have the success that they need heading into this crucial stretch of time. There are a few things that you need to look for when making trades and planning your flex throughout the next month and a half. 1. Look at match ups. The biggest mistakes I see people make is overvalue players…

I’m enjoying riding the Branden Oliver train after his performance in Week 6. While he didn’t do as well as he did in Week 5, he held up well as a feature back with 30 carries. I’ll take that all day until Ryan Mathews returns. Ben Tate, Branden Oliver, and Ronnie Hillman have all proved their worth at this point. Andre Williams will need another week to see if the Giants offensive line will show up for him. Keep your eye on Mark Ingram, who should return to his leading role for the Saints this week as long as his health cooperates. Isaiah Crowell is also on my radar in a…

Ben Tate Branden Oliver Andre Williams Mark Ingram Knowshon Moreno Ronnie Hillman Odell Beckham Jr. C.J. If this offense keeps moving, he could finally be a solid contributor in Adrian Peterson’s absence. I’m going running back heavy in this edition with some options and stashes reaching a “must own” point this week. Let’s get to the picks. At least we have a few new stars like our boy Blue. Let’s jump right into my list. Alfred Blue Lorenzo Taliaferro Andrew Hawkins Marvin Jones Kirk Cousins Chargers D/ST With all the injuries, I’m trying to keep things tight this week. Top Pick 1. Denver Broncos (-7) vs. SF – The 49ers will be down LB Patrick Willis which takes out all but one element (Ahmad Brooks) of their Pro Bowl Linebacking Corps. San Francisco will keep this competitive but won’t have enough firepower to keep it close late. Look for Peyton Manning and Co. to cover the point spread and win by at least 10. Next 2. Baltimore Ravens (-7) vs. Atl – Baltimore is coming off a big romp in Tampa and will continue that trend against the NFC South at home. Atlanta’s diminished OL impacts everything they do on offense, and they’re…

Week 6 took quite a few people out (yours truly in one pool) when the heavily favored Seahawks lost and the Bengals tied. Now it’s time for Week 7 of the NFL suicide pool. Our top three picks for this week are: Top pick 1. New England Patriots vs. NYJ – The NFL scheduling gods didn’t do the Jets any favors with their hellacious schedule to start the season. 1-5 will become 1-6 when they head to Foxboro tonight. The defense is trying to give NYJ a chance to win but the offense is non-existent. Next 2. Cleveland Browns vs. Jax – The Jaguars made it interesting against…

Baltimore Ravens vs. Atl – The Ravens are tough at home and the Falcons OL is in shambles. Arizona Cardinals vs. Oak – Look for the Cards to force multiple turnovers. Denver Broncos vs. SF – Denver will attack Kaepernick and create 2-3 turnovers. Tier 2 Houston Texans vs. Pit – Todd Haley is horrible. Bet against the Steelers while he is calling plays. Jason Witten vs. NYG – If the Giants employ last week’s plan then Witten will have a huge day. Larry Donnell vs. Dal – Cruz’s injury will mean more passes to the TE. The good news is that Johnson sounded optimistic about his chances of coming back soon, but wouldn’t elaborate on how likely it is that he’ll actually suit up this Sunday in London. This remains a risky proposition for the Lions as they have to balance Johnson’s desire to play with what’s best for the team. The fastest growing game in fantasy in the Daily Game, so maximizing your lineup each week by finding the best values is imperative.  Values are based on Fan Duel prices.   I have also included the % owned based on the Thursday night lineups.  This information will help you pick the players with the lowest % ownership, but that will have the best chance to pop this Sunday.  This % could go up or down between now and Sunday, but it’s a good starting point.  Were are aiming for maximizing our lineups.   The key to a great lineup is mixing in High Priced studs, solid value plays,…

Chargers vs Jax The Jags allow the most points to opposing defenses, and this will be Bortles first start.  The Chargers may give some points in garbage time, but I like them for some turnovers and sacks against the rookie signal caller. CLICK HERE FOR MORE

Best Waiver Targets Kirk Cousins QB, Redskins Cousins is legit and the real deal.  The Redskins are going to a very friendly fantasy offense and their defense is not very good.  I won’t be counting on 400 plus yards a week and 3 TDs, but he should be low end QB2 for the rest of the year.  RIP RG3. Week 8 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Another week of Fantasy Football is in the books, which means it’s once again time to hit up your league’s waiver wire. It’s possible you’ve been fortunate enough to not withstand any big injuries to this point, but it’s not all that likely. Whether it’s one of the big ones people have been dealing with like Calvin Johnson or A.J. Green, or one that came up to bite you in week seven, you could be hurting. That, or maybe simple old by weeks are coming to get you in week eight. Whatever the case may be, the waiver wire is…

SOURCES:  Tampa Bay Buccaneers Making Vincent Jackson Available With a gruesome 1-5 record that made them hit rock bottom of NFC South (as of this writing) this season, Tampa Bay Buccaneers are all set and ready to make changes at their roster. According to some reliable sources, the changes might start by trading their ever reliable, veteran wide receiver Vincent Jackson. In a recent interview with Ian Rapoport at NFL GameDay Morning, he said that the team (Bucs) is receiving lots of calls inquiring the availability of Jackson. “They are getting a ton of calls on him,” Rapoport…

  • Week 8 Fantasy Football Player Rankings: Will Injured Stars Come to the Rescue?

    Kevin Roberts

One of the biggest issues with your fantasy football team right now has to be injuries. And it’s not just small, easily overcome injuries like Ryan Mathews being out for a month or recently losing a sad sack like C.J. Spiller. It’s the waiting game on the likes of Calvin Johnson and A.J. Green or not knowing just what to expect out of Jimmy Graham for the second week in a row. Naturally, the health of lack thereof has my week eight fantasy football rankings in a flux, as well. You should tentatively expect these guys back and ready to rock. Green mentioned earlier in the week…

Last week we hit on yet another Long Shot, as Tre Mason got his first shot to play Monday night and broke out this Sunday. Austin Davis was solid, he wasn’t spectacular but actually performed better than we expected against the Seahawks. Our RBs Storm Johnson, Antone Smith and Brandon Bolden were all pretty much useless. Nevertheless, they should still be held on to. Although Johnson has us a bit nervous. Our pass-catchers Jarvis Landry, Andre Holmes and Clay Harbor, all performed decent and more importantly continued to see targets. Hopefully some of those guys pan out for you moving…

A Houston Texans-Pittsburgh Steelers matchup doesn’t exactly jump off the page when it comes to “great” prime time NFL matchups, but these are some fairly evenly-matched teams. So there’s that. They’re both 3-3 and seemingly on the fringe of the AFC playoff picture at the moment. What can we expect when it comes to fantasy tonight? Who should you start? Quarterbacks Ryan Fitzpatrick (Texans) vs. Ben Roethlisberger (Steelers) As a Texans fan, Ryan Fitzpatrick is quickly becoming the bane of my existence. However, I will point out that I WAS right about Julius Thomas’ output. But again, how do you sit the guy. Anyways, let’s get to your week 8 start/sit calls (Giants and 49ers on a bye): START QB, Ryan Tannehill, Miami Dolphins Coming of a win in Chicago where he managed the game extremely well. 22 Oct 2014 | 2:31 pm
SMITTY: Look, it’s Tre Mason time, and no one is more excited than I am. I have been Mason’s biggest supporter since January, and I think he will go nuts moving forward, but now is a time to buy-low on Zac Stacy. This is especially the case for those that own just Mason, as you can lock in both backs, and Stacy won’t even command flex-type value. He isn’t even starting. He is now a back-up, so trade for him at that basement price. Why do I say this now, the moment Mason is getting unleashed? Well, for starters, Stacy is still a very good RB, and the duo makes for one…

  • NEWS: Pierre Thomas (shoulder) to miss 2-3 weeks; Ingram and Robinson to see more touches?

    21 Oct 2014 | 12:41 pm
SMITTY: It’s tough to say who will benefit more from Pierre Thomas’ absence, but clearly both Khiry Robinson and Mark Ingram will see an uptick in touches with this news. Both runners are boom or bust plays each week, as you just don’t know which will get more run. Plus, it seems like the Saints want to mix in some Travaris Cadet here and there, so the situation is still very cloudy even with Thomas’ injury. If you breakdown last week’s usage, Ingram commanded the early-down work, and Robinson dropped down to three rushes compared to Ingram’s 10. Our guess…

We’ll see about this week.” It was his answer on whether the injury would bother him all season that concerned us, as he had this to say on that: “It’s probably not gonna be 100 percent, but I hope it’s just manageable,” Green said. “I can get through the season and be fine and still play at a high level.” Hopefully Green can still play at a top…

Each one should be starting in Week 6 and probably for the next few weeks. The Giants, Andre Williams will replace Rashad Jennings, who has a sprained left MCL and will miss a few weeks. This week most of  teams should be back to full strength unless you are one of the few Lamar miller owners (Miami and Oakland are the only teams on a bye).  Our studs on bye last week had a chance to rest up and get better and injuries were minimal this past week. Jamaal Charles returned with a vengeance in Week 4, let’s hope it’s the start of things to come. Eddie Lacy  and Le Shon McCoy are off to slow starts can they get on track?  Calvin Johnson has struggled the last few weeks because of injury, but if healthy he should bounce back this week against the Bills.  Tom Brady is…

Quarterbacks to Start Week 4 Philip Rivers (vs Jax): Its to easy to just pick the quarterback and defense playing Jacksonville and pick them as a starter, that’s a no brainer.  I put him on my list for two reasons, one I know that many people like myself play the one week fantasy games  and he looks like a good buy this week.  The second reason is, Rivers is coming off consecutive games with at least 23 Fantasy points and facing a Jaguars defense Colin Kaepernick (vs Phi):Kaepernick is he has at least 20 Fantasy points in two of his first three games, and now he gets the Eagles defense…
