Top Pick 1. Kansas City Chiefs (-9.5) vs. NYJ – Things are bad for the Jets now. They’ve turned to QB Michael Vick in a move of desperation and the washed up former top pick will find life miserable all day by a swarming Chiefs D. Look for a 27-10 finish with Kansas City easily covering the point spread. Next 2. Arizona Cardinals (+4) vs. Dal – See money line bet. 3. Cincinnati Bengals (-11) vs. Jax – The Jaguars D is an improving bunch, but they’re still not getting much help from the offense. Cincinnati is a bit banged up on D but the reinsertion of AJ Green…

Is it too late to call Mark Ingram a potential fantasy stud for Week 9? I guess it is considering it was Thursday night that he tallied his second straight 100-yard rushing game. Ingram also found the end zone twice, which gives him three touchdowns in the last two games. Now that he's getting the touches, I'd say he's finally living up to his billing out of college. While it's too late to capitalize on Ingram's success—if you didn't already have him plugged into your fantasy lineup—there are two other guys to keep an eye on this week.   Frank Gore vs. St. Louis Rams Gore has…

  • Ravens TE Owen Daniels might play 1 week after undergoing knee scope

    31 Oct 2014 | 8:07 pm
Ravens tight end Owen Daniels will be a game-time decision Sunday night, a pretty remarkable feat since he underwent arthroscopic knee surgery just one week ago. Daniels is officially listed as questionable and was able to go through limited practice twice this week. According to the Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson, Daniels "moved well" during Friday's session. If Daniels is ruled out on Sunday, he will be once again replaced by Crockett Gillmore against the Pittsburgh Steelers. FANTASY ANALYSIS: I don't expect Daniels to play, but his recovery has been exceptional. The fact that he is even…

    31 Oct 2014 | 7:51 pm
Buccaneers running back Doug Martin hasn't done much of anything this season for his fantasy owners, and it's almost guaranteed that he will do exactly nothing in Week 9. Martin is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Browns due to an ankle injury that forced him to miss the entire practice week and had him sporting a walking boot until Thursday. Bobby Rainey is expected to get the start in place of Martin. Rainey has averaged 4.6 yards per carry while Martin has averaged just 2.9. Martin hasn't gained more than 45 rushing yards or 75 total yards in any game while also being…

    31 Oct 2014 | 2:58 pm
Classic scenario - would be interested in the Shark Pool's feedback.  The owners for Team A & B have never met in real life, and there is zero chance of collusion.   Team A:  6-2, tied for first, trades Matt Ryan and Mohamed Sanu (PPR league)    Team B:  1-7, in last, trades Aaron Rodgers   Team B's explanation is that they can't afford to lose another game or their season is over, so it's time to diversify and take a chance that Ryan has a big 2nd half & Sanu continues to play well after AJ Green returns.   Team A has depth at WR and is obviously happy…

  • Fantasy Football Week 9: Assessing Top Under-the-Radar Flex Starters

    31 Oct 2014 | 3:24 pm
Fantasy football's flex position, like Halloween, is capable of producing many tricks and treats. A double-digit-point performance from a player in this slot is a wonderful treat; however, the wrong play can leave fantasy owners with the worst trick of all—a larger number in the loss column. Looking ahead at the Week 9 matchups, there are several under-the-radar players who are poised to deliver nice performances. Some of them may even be available on your league's wavier wire, so be sure to comb through obtainable players before you finalize your lineup. So, who are these mystery…
  • A.J. Green Will Pair with Andy Dalton for Huge Fantasy Performance

    31 Oct 2014 | 2:17 pm
A.J. Green looks set to return to the Cincinnati Bengals lineup barring a last-minute setback, and that should lead to a big fantasy performance by him and his quarterback, Andy Dalton. Green is still listed as questionable, but based on what head coach Marvin Lewis is saying, it would be a surprise if he doesn't play and perform well on Sunday.  It doesn't hurt that he is going up against the Jacksonville Jaguars defense. Green has been battling a bad toe since Week 2. He played in Weeks 3 and 5—the Bengals had a bye in Week 4—but he hasn't played since. Jacksonville…

Giovani Bernard's fantasy football owners will soon learn the importance of drafting a stud running back's handcuff. On Sunday, the Cincinnati Bengals take on the Jacksonville Jaguars' 20th-ranked run defense, but according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the team will be without its lead back: Enter Jeremy Hill. The rookie ball-carrier will have an enormous chance to shine in Week 9. He hasn't had many opportunities to take on a large workload this season but showed what he's capable of producing during a 15-carry showing in Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons. He finished that game with 74 rushing…

WINNERS QB: Cam Newton, Carolina vs New Orleans, Thursday Night I have said this many times on my winners and losers posts but I really dislike the Saints on the road. This week the they play the Panthers who can have a decent offense. This week should be a great game for Cam in what will be a must win scenario in a division filled with mediocrity. The Saints defense is not good enough to keep up with the dual-threat QB in Newton Eisenhard’s Projection: 15-23, 260 yards, 2 TDs, 10 rushes 75, TD 31 Fantasy Points.  RB: Chris Ivory, New York Jets at Kansas City, Early Game Sunday Chris…

Use ‘Em QB Alex Smith- The Jets have given up 22 passing TD’s to one interception and are giving up the most fantasy points to opposing QB’s. Smith will be a top 10 play this week. Cam Newton- The Saints just gave up 400 yards passing a week ago, I think Newton can take advantage of their poor secondary Thursday night, and more importantly Cam is running again. He has 36 carries in his last 3 games and now that his rushing is back on track he is poised to be a weekly top 10 QB barring a hideous match-up(like last week). Teddy Bridgewater- The Washington secondary is…

  • Week 9 Pickups: Good Moncrief! 4 Wide Receivers to Stash

    Jacob
    28 Oct 2014 | 11:07 pm
Week 8 was a fantasy feast and gave us a peek at what a few young receivers could do if given more opportunity. If you need an immediate play, check back on previous waiver wires for suggested pickups. But if you’re looking for a difference maker down the stretch, one of these four might be the answer. Martavis Bryant had a bit of a coming out party against the Colts in Week 8 as he scored twice, but he’d already found the end zone in his first game action in Week 7. Bryant seems to be on his way to supplanting Markus Wheaton to play beside Antonio Brown in this recently…

    22 Oct 2014 | 12:50 am
Amazingly, it’s another good week for the running back needy, and some of you likely lost your starters this week with C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson going down. I would have hoped you’d replace Spiller by now, but I know it’s hard to give up on those preseason plans. I’ll typically assume most previous pickup suggestions have been secured in your league each week, but be sure to snag any Giants receivers that are available as they go on bye this week. That offense could get back on track when next we see them take the field. I’d also prioritize Branden Oliver…

I’m enjoying riding the Branden Oliver train after his performance in Week 6. While he didn’t do as well as he did in Week 5, he held up well as a feature back with 30 carries. I’ll take that all day until Ryan Mathews returns. Ben Tate, Branden Oliver, and Ronnie Hillman have all proved their worth at this point. Andre Williams will need another week to see if the Giants offensive line will show up for him. Keep your eye on Mark Ingram, who should return to his leading role for the Saints this week as long as his health cooperates. Isaiah Crowell is also on my radar in a…
  • Week 6 Pickups: Branden Oliver be in your lineup

    Jacob
    8 Oct 2014 | 9:00 am
It’s a good week to get some bench running backs as we had three major injuries to Rashad Jennings, Montee Ball, and Donald Brown, which opened the door for some promising options. Many of my teams are hurting so I’ll be setting plenty of waivers. Here’s where I’m putting my chips this week. Ben Tate Branden Oliver Andre Williams Mark Ingram Knowshon Moreno Ronnie Hillman Odell Beckham Jr. C.J. Anderson Carson Palmer Austin Davis Robert Griffin III If Ben Tate is available, make sure he is on your roster. The Browns run game is in stride, and Tate, when healthy, is the…
  • Week 5 Pickups: Asiata told you to pick him up last week

    Jacob
    1 Oct 2014 | 12:06 am
No season-changers emerged this week, but we did finally see more of Matt Asiata with Teddy Bridgewater taking over the reigns for Minnesota. If this offense keeps moving, he could finally be a solid contributor in Adrian Peterson’s absence. I’m going running back heavy in this edition with some options and stashes reaching a “must own” point this week. Let’s get to the picks. Matt Asiata Jerick McKinnon Justin Forsett Isaiah Crowell Matt Asiata can score. We found that out this week in a hat trick, but his real value is that he remains the most consistent back…

It’s on to Week 9 of the NFL suicide pool. The Lions gave everyone a scare last week but rallied from 21 down at halftime to win. Below are our three choices for this week’s NFL suicide pool pick. Top pick 1. Kansas City Chiefs vs. NYJ – J-E-T-S-JETS JETS JETS becomes Y-E-S-YES YES YES for the Chiefs. Michael Vick is now the starting QB which is only an upgrade when you consider how poorly Geno Smith has been playing. The Chiefs will bury New York at home and win this one going away. Next 2. Cincinnati Bengals vs. Jax – This is going to end up another laugher. AJ Green…

It hasn’t been long since the Dallas Cowboys were staring at a 21 point deficit in their match against St. Louis Rams. An incredible turnaround that began towards the end of the second quarter resulted in a 34-31 victory. Their run since has ensured that the opening day defeat to the San Francisco 49ers has been long forgotten. Superbowl champions Seattle Seahawks lay in wait for the Cowboys last weekend, though. The road trip to the Northwest is arguably the NFL’s most difficult at the moment. Crowds flock to see the reigning champions, whose record over the last two years has been…

As of Monday, Allen was back in practice and should be a full go for the Colts matchup against the Raiders. Allen can be a weekly TE1 option and he’s one of my favorite sleepers at the position. While may get more attention nationally because he was a higher pick and Andrew Luck’s teammate at Stanford, it is Allen that is the better option to have in fantasy leagues. Expect Allen to have an…

Photo By: Brad Penner / USA TODAY Sports The yard per carry average was terrific for David Wilson in the preseason (close to eight yards) and I wouldn’t be surprised if he averages over five yards per carry through the  regular season. Playing against soft fronts will be to Wilson’s advantage as defenses will be more concerned with what Eli Manning and his spread passing game will do with the ever dangerous Victor Cruz playing in the slot. Just don’t expect Wilson to gain positive yards on every play because as we’ve seen in the preseason, Wilson will make a few big plays and…

Interesting happenings in the old NFL this weekend. We saw an explosion of scoring from a few teams in the league, and we saw some of the poorest play in recent memory from others. This week in 4 Downs we’ll look at some of the terrible units in the NFL, trades that should have happened and the biggest whiffs of my season so far. 1st Down: In what was a wild weekend for old Rodger and his league, it became painfully obvious that the glaring deficiencies on some teams had reached critical mass. Atlanta, Buffalo, Chicago, Detroit, Green Bay, and Tennessee are all getting the week off, so that leaves a lot of roster spots to fill. These sleepers should be available in just about every league, so if you need a replacement, taking a chance on one of these guys won’t be the worst decision you’ll make this week. Michael Vick, QB, New York Jets Vick has been absolutely terrible both times he’s replaced Geno Smith…
  • Marshawn Lynch and Week Nine’s Fantasy Football Risers and Fallers

    David Rose
    31 Oct 2014 | 11:34 am
Welcome to week 9! It’s receivers galore in this week’s risers and fallers column, with a couple struggling running backs added in for fun. This is timely since week 9 is a very bye-heavy week and a lot of big name WRs will be out. If you own Julio Jones, Roddy White, Sammy Watkins, Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery, Calvin Johnson, Golden Tate, Randall Cobb, or Jordy Nelson, try snagging one of the rising WRs. It’s important to remember though that risers and fallers does not necessarily equate to add/drop. A better way to look at might be sell high/buy low. Being more than halfway…
  • Week 9 NFL Picks: Can Brady Get Revenge on Peyton?

    Taylor Smith
    30 Oct 2014 | 12:49 pm
Tom Brady has typically gotten the better of Peyton Manning throughout their respective careers, yet inexplicably it is Eli that has had the last laugh over both of them. What a crock. Peyton’s Denver Broncos topped Brady’s New England Patriots in last seasons AFC Championship Game extremely easily, as Peyton got revenge on Brady for Denver’s OT loss earlier in the season at the hands of the Pats. So far this season, Denver has looked like the best overall team in football, while New England has shut-down the critics that were saying earlier in the year that their best days…
  • Week 9 Fantasy Football IDP Sleepers: Alex Okafor, Kavell Conner and More

    Jonathan Pollak
    30 Oct 2014 | 11:26 am
Good news for IDP fans: Lamarr Houston finally got a sack last week. The bad news is that he hurt himself celebrating and could miss the rest of the season. The silver lining is that you can probably find better production on the waiver wire if you know where to look! D/ST Sleeper:  Kansas City Chiefs – They’re not really a sleeper – they should be owned in most formats – but a matchup with the hapless New York Jets promises a chance to feast on the past-his-prime Michael Vick or never-will-have-a-prime Geno Smith. Expect sacks and picks. D/ST Sleeper:  Cleveland…
  • Week 9 Fantasy Football Advice: Start or Sit Tony Romo, John Brown and More

    Terrence Kirker
    28 Oct 2014 | 7:34 am
Not gonna lie….week 8 had me scratching my head at times. Especially Monday night with Washington getting a win in Dallas with Colt McCoy at QB. Must be Halloween or something. Did not see that one coming. Week 9 brings us a bunch of teams on a bye so be sure to dig through the waiver wire hard. BYES: Atlanta, Buffalo, CHicago, Detroit, Green Bay, Tennessee START Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Minnesota Vikings The Vikes threw the ball a lot last week and Bridgewater played pretty well. The Redskins might be emotionally drained after a big win in Dallas and on a short week. Bridgewater also has…

  • NEWS: Doug Martin doubtful, Bobby Rainey looking like a sneaky-good RB2 start of the week?

    Smitty
    31 Oct 2014 | 2:27 pm
SMITTY: Both Jeremy Hill (Gio is out) and Bobby Rainey have sneaky-good RB2-type upside this week, and both are available in some leagues, and Rainey is available in a lot of leagues. There is always risk with plug-and-play type players, and their Week 10 production isn’t locked in, that’s what makes them plug-and-play for Week 9, but both have huge upside/appeal. There was some thinking all week, and there still is a bit lingering around news wires, that Charles Sims could see a grip of work in this one… while possible, it sounds more like Rainey will lead the charge out of…
  • NEWS: Giovani Bernard out for Week 9, AJ Green looking likely to play; Jeremy Hill one of our starts of the Week?

    Smitty
    31 Oct 2014 | 2:17 pm
SMITTY: Giovani Bernard (hib) is out for this week, which is horrible for all Gio owners, but he has a shot at returning next week, so we will keep you posted. Jeremy Hill now steps into the starting role for Week 9 and is a sneaky-good RB2-type play. Coach Marvin Lewis expressed confidence on Friday regarding AJ Green being able to play Week 9. Stay tuned on this one. Looking for Week 9 Power Rankings? • NEWS: Tony Romo questionable for Week 9 with back; RG3 on waivers in your league?

    Smitty
    31 Oct 2014 | 2:05 pm
SMITTY: Tony Romo (back) is listed as questionable for Week 9 against AZ. After three missed practices, he is sounding more questionable to doubtful, but expect a game-time decision here. If he sits, downgrade Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams a bit, and while this could go either way with the rushing game, our take is AZ will just focus more on shutting down the run, and they already are one of the toughest teams to run against. A more balanced offense, so Romo playing, is better for Murray owners, but then again, all it takes is one monster TD run by Murray, so anything can happen. Stay…
  • NEWS: Charles Sims not a lock to play Week 9?

    Smitty
    31 Oct 2014 | 3:52 am
SMITTY: According to reports, Bucs coach Lovie Smith said this on Charles Sims heading into Week 9: “I don’t know if he’ll be ready to go this week.” Early in the week, the runner was kind of looking like a lock to play this week, and most were even expecting that he’d get a healthy dose of carries. However, Sims owners better pump the brakes a bit until we find out more. Doug Martin might be looking at “do or die” type stuff in Week 9, as a good game could buy him more time to hold onto his starting gig, and a bad game could rapidly move Sims into…
  • NEWS: Jimmy Graham and DeAngelo Williams both active for Thursday Night Week 9

    Smitty
    30 Oct 2014 | 4:48 pm
SMITTY: While he isn’t quite full strength, he scored a touchdown last week, so Jimmy Graham is a must-start unless he suffers some sort of last-second setback. Expect a lot of Drew Brees, Brandin Cooks (who should get more consistent moving forward) and Mark Ingram, who now has high-end RB2 appeal. DeAngelo Williams is set to start tonight’s battle against the Saints, but Jonathan Stewart could see just as much work. This feels like a total sharing situation. Panthers WR Philly Brown and running backs Khiry Robinson and Pierre Thomas are all inactive. Looking for Week 9 Power…

Another week and more running backs making a splash on the waiver wire this week.Andre Williams, Ronnie Hillman and Branden Oliver are going to be very popular this week in Fantasy. Each one should be starting in Week 6 and probably for the next few weeks. The Giants, Andre Williams will replace Rashad Jennings, who has a sprained left MCL and will miss a few weeks. The Broncos, RonnieHillman is expected to start in place of Montee Ball, who will also miss a few weeks with a groin injury. Oliver could start for the Chargers this week if Donald Brown (concussion) is out but with his…
