Roddy White practices, is expected to play
6 Nov 2009 | 4:55 pmAtlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White has been one of the top wideouts in fantasy football through the past four weeks, recording 414 yards and five touchdowns in that period. But there was reason to worry this week after White didn't practice on Wednesday or Thursday due to a very vague knee injury. White did practice in limited capacity on Friday and head coach Mike Smith said "I anticipate [White] being ready to go on Sunday afternoon." He is listed as questionable for the team's week nine contest against the Washington Redskins. -
Colts notes: Donald Brown expected back; Anthony Gonzalez gets scoped
6 Nov 2009 | 4:10 pmIndianapolis Colts rookie running back Donald Brown is expected to play this Sunday versus the Houston Texans. He has made a pretty quick recovery from a shoulder injury. However, you can't say the same about wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez from his knee injury. After rumors swirled a while ago that Gonzalez could be getting close to returning to the Colts' lineup, Gonzalez had arthroscopic knee surgery on Thursday. He is expected to miss at least 2-3 more weeks. He has been out since week one with a torn PCL and apparently re-aggravated his injury during practice a couple of weeks ago. Brown… -

2009 NFL Barometer: Week 9
6 Nov 2009 | 8:14 pmAnd then there were two. Baltimore completely dismantled the formerly-undefeated Denver Broncos last Sunday, and it doesn’t get any easier for Josh McDaniels and the gang, as the world champion Steelers come to town for a Monday night brawl this week. Pittsburgh has had an extra week to prepare for this game, and they’re currently [...] -
2009 NFL Barometer: Week 8
31 Oct 2009 | 7:26 amAnd then there were three. Minnesota’s loss to defending champion Pittsburgh has left just three undefeated teams in the ranks of football, with all three unsurprisingly heading our Barometer for Week 8. Don’t work Viking fans — the Purple People Beaters didn’t fall far, as they are now the only one-loss team in the league. A [...] -
2009 NFL Barometer: Week 7
23 Oct 2009 | 4:36 pmAt the beginning of the season, who could have imagined the Broncos would head into their bye week 6-0? 2009 NFL Barometer: Week 6
16 Oct 2009 | 10:49 amWeek 5 promised that there would be many uninteresting games to watch. Sorry to those of you that suffered through that Browns-Bills epic (fail) battle. A parade of start & sit advice
6 Nov 2009 | 8:31 amGreetings fantasy footballers and happy Friday! I feel like I should be part of the Yankees Ticker Tape Parade in Manhattan right now if for no other reason than how often can you participate in a parade?? This is exactly the logic I'll be using when I tromp around the Macy's Day Parade on Thanksgiving. Who knew my parade options would increase exponentially upon moving to NYC? Considering I'm still in my pajamas (hey, what's the rush?) and thoroughly enjoying my morning coffee, the whole parade thing might get tabled for now. There are football links to get to! Wondering if there are some… -
Double post day
5 Nov 2009 | 6:15 pmWell my husband is off at a conference and my sister is froufing around in Cali for a wedding - that means the quantity of friends I have in the city has just been reduced by about 50% - which frankly benefits you all since I'm hanging out writing another post tonight. I know, I need to get more friends. Funny how hard making friends can be when you work from home on fantasy football and basically hang out with cats all day (they're adorable cats, but still, they don't talk back)...all kidding aside though, it's kind of nice to have a quiet weekend after we had so many… -
Week 9 Start/Sits and Rankings
5 Nov 2009 | 7:33 amCongrats Yankees fans! I'll be honest, I was pulling for the Phillies since I was hoping for another championship for my sister's friend Eric Bruntlett, but I can put that aside and be happy for my new hometown team. You guys all know my heart is really with football anyway... So speaking of which, let's jaunt on over to today's football articles: My weekly article with the Bruno Boys is up - I'm looking at some players who have sweet playoffs matchups, but not the top guys, more like your borderline/bubble players. But to be honest, wait an hour or so to check it out. One of the… -
The ultimate gut call
4 Nov 2009 | 8:24 amI might have just done something a bit crazy: I turned down a great job offer this morning. Without getting into too much detail, I was offered a position at a library (let's call it Library A) here in NYC but I still have a final round interview with another library (Library B) that I believe is more in line with my long-term library career aspirations coming up in a few weeks. I really wasn't ready to pull the trigger on Library A before meeting again with Library B, and since Library A decided they couldn't wait until my Library B interview had concluded, I declined the offer. I feel a…

Has Bob Sanders Played His Final Game As a Colt?
6 Nov 2009 | 3:19 pmSafety Bob Sanders has been a fixture on the Indianapolis Colts defense for a few years now. While Sanders has consistently played at a high level (when on the field) he's missed a lot of time in his career to injury. Today, Sanders was officially placed on injured reserve, effectively ending his season. This now means that Sanders will only participate in two games for this entire season. Including the rest of this season, Sanders has now missed more games (played in 47, missed 48) in his career than he has played in the regular season. For all of Sanders' injuries, it is undeniable (before… -

Fantasy Depth Chart's Week Nine Sits and Starts (Part Two)
6 Nov 2009 | 6:36 amAs stated in Part One , last week was not a productive week for me. There was very, very low scoring last week in my dynasty and family leagues as few team’s “big guns” were predictable and reliable last weekend. That's the goodness of fantasy football! Here are my sits on a week where the NFL placed its JV teams on the bench. In similar fashion, the Steelers are faster on the defensive side of the ball and… -

Down With the Flu One would have thought that this particular week would be a good time for the youngsters' career to start as he's had two weeks to prepare because of the bye week. Unfortunately, a bunch of the Buccaneer players came down with the flu on the way back from their loss in England to the Patriots . Because of this the team had only practiced for a total of 2 1/2 hours…

Studs and Duds, Week 9
5 Nov 2009 | 10:59 pmThis week has some great games lined up. The Pats will try to seek revenge on the Dolphins after losing the division last year and the Texans might have one of the biggest games in franchise history as they travel in to play the Colts in Lucas Oil Stadium. The Sunday night and Monday night games also look very good on paper. The Eagles host the Cowboys and the Steelers travel to Mile High to take on the Broncos. This is also a good week for fantasy owners because there are only a few big name players on bye minus any Vikings players.STUDSQB David Garrard- Last week this pick burned me as the… -
Studs and Duds, Week 8
28 Oct 2009 | 1:44 pmLast week as expected the big names produced against their weak opponents and fantasy owners were rewarded for the high draft picks. There were also some late round picks and possible waiver moves that made some fantasy owners look like geniuses. For example Cedric Benson, Mike Wallace and Miles Austin blew up and had some great games. But enough about last week so lets move on to week 8 where there are some great games and good/bad fantasy match ups.STUDSQB David Garrard- His numbers have been inconsistent from week to week but the Jags are coming off a bye and facing a Titans team… -
Studs and Duds, Week 7
21 Oct 2009 | 10:12 pmI want to welcome a new writer, Dominic, who will be providing content this season, just like Louis did for us last season. Dominic is a big time fantasy football manager and is looking forward to providing his thoughts with all of you. And with Dominic's arrival, he's bringing back my Studs and Duds column for this week. And now I will defer to Dominic's recommendations:This week offers many mouth watering matchups for some of the big names in the league. Peyton Manning and the Colts travel to St. Louis to play a terrible Rams team and Aaron Rodgers… -
Fair?....Ethical?
14 Oct 2009 | 3:35 pmSo I got an interesting email this week that I wanted to share with all of you, see if you agree or disagree with my answer. Here's the email:"OK - So I'm in a 10 team standard league. One guy trades Ahmad Bradshaw for LT - who has a bye. After the week, he trades back for bradshaw....essentially "loaning" him out for the week to his buddy. Is this fair and/or ethical. Looking forward to your response."And my response was:"This is definitely not fair or ethical. Although I have to admit I like the idea of loaning out a player as part of a trade. I'm someone who… -
Actives/Inactive
11 Oct 2009 | 9:15 amHere are the notable active and inactive players for the games this morning. Adjust your lineups accordingly.ACTIVE:QB Eli Manning - He's active and will start. But there's a chance that he might not make it through the entire game. And even if he does, if the Giants go up early on the Raiders (which is likely), they could end up running the ball the rest of the game. Bench him unless you absolutely can't.RB Jonathan Stewart - He should see a dozen carries and some goal line looks. Decent flex option if you need him.RB Joseph Addai - It looks like he'll…

Is Steve Smith Better Than Steve Smith?
25 Sep 2009 | 11:04 pmThere was a time when Steve Smith of the NYG was off the radar. He didn’t even need to be distinguished from the Steve Smith of Carolina because it was so obvious you were talking about the only relevant Steve Smith, the one on the Panthers. Now, I think Steve Smith of the Giants is the better of the two. He’s huge in fact. With Plaxico out of the picture, he’s become Eli’s primary target and now gets major catches and is even more than a possession receiver. Though I’ve heard that he doesn’t have WR1 talents or athleticism (like I would know if… -
Server Problems: Yahoo Fantasy Sports Not Working
13 Sep 2009 | 1:59 pmI’ve noticed that the major fantasy football sites are having trouble loading today. Maybe they should have used some of their fantasy football cash to buy some more servers. Among those having trouble are: Yahoo FantasySports, ESPN.com, NFL.com, and MyFantasyLeague. I hate the NFL new broad overlook. You have to click a tab each time you want the specific game stats. I much preferred the older, lower tech game results. Yahoo Sports is killing me because I can’t see any of my teams or matchups. So much for Free Stat Tracker. It’s worthless if I can’t see my… -
Herd Mentality: Is it in You?
23 Aug 2009 | 3:14 amThere’s a herd of buffalo around the fantasy football world. Some don’t know the herd exists. Some know the herd exists but don’t know there in it. Others are watching the direction of the herd so they can take full advantage. These people are called sharks. Become the shark. -

Blocking your opponents QB
6 Nov 2009 | 6:14 pmThis might be relegated to the Bench forum but I'm looking at it as more of a strategy question. I'll use my team this week as an example however. The example from my league is that my opponent has Eli Manning and our league scores 4 pts for a TD. I own and will start Hakeem Nicks. I have 2 options at TE in Fred Davis and Kevin Boss. I believe Fred Davis will likely have the better day but I'm leaning towards starting Boss as our league awards 7 points for receiver TDs. If Manning would throw a TD to either Nicks or Boss I would actually be gaining points on my opponent. I also have a chance… -
Jacoby Jones
6 Nov 2009 | 5:35 pmI can't believe this hasn't been post yet. Here are his stats from this year:Week Targets Rec Yards TD 1 1 0 0 0 2 4 2 73 1 3 3 2 23 1 4 1 1 6 0 5 2 1 4 0 6 2 2 29 1 7 0 0 0 0 8 1 1 36 0Seems he has very sure hands when the rock is thrown his way. Owen Daniels was split out in the slot a good bit. Guess the question is does Jones get most of those looks? -

Survival of the Fittest NFL Style (or Why Can't Every Team Play the Rams Each Week?)
7 Nov 2009 | 11:30 amFor entertainment purposes only, I’ll be updating my survivor picks here every week. The rules are simple. Pick a team to win each week. If they win, move on to the next week. Of course you can’t pick the same team twice in the same regular season. None of this two-tier nonsense. One and done. The rules of the jungle apply in football too Note: there was also an anti-survivor competition. What’s anti-survivor you ask? Well, you pick a team to LOSE each week and can only pick a team once. How awesome is that? What’s not so awesome? When you pick the Bengals to lose at… -
Two Minute Warning - Everybody Hurts Sometime
6 Nov 2009 | 9:50 pmDo you think these guys ever heard of Rayfield Wright? Bare with me through our latest voyage. Thanks to the Phils’ World Series loss, I’m in a bit of an ornery mood these days. My email box and Facebook account has been swamped with arrogant and cocksure emails from Yankee fans celebrating title 27. Most of which I can’t even put in print. On Thursday, I estimated I had roughly five congratulations in me towards Yankees fans. I work around them all day, teach them, and call some of them friend. Nonetheless, I’m rationing out the kudos like it’s a small supply of Raman noodles on a… -

Inside The PFL: A Dramatic Script
6 Nov 2009 | 6:42 pmYou’ve heard of reality television. This is reality dialogue. The following is a real-life transcript from a fantasy football message board thread that spiraled ridiculously out of control. Going rapidly from football talk to an internet fisticuffs over a relationship gone awry, this script is the literary embodiment of a Jerry Springer episode. The setting for our story is the Pearce Fantasy League, a fantasy football legion of 12 men in their early 20s who have spent years competing against one another in the pantheon of made-up sports, while simultaneously becoming friends in the… -

Broncos | L. Smith will likely start Week 9
6 Nov 2009 | 2:09 pmLindsay Jones, of The Denver Post, reports Denver Broncos DL Le Kevin Smith will likely start the team’s Week 9 game in place of DL Ryan McBean (knee). Defensive line coach Wayne Nunnely said, “Le Kevin Smith is our guy who is going to be starting for Ryan. He’s played, and we brought him here from New England for a reason. He’s a good football player, and now he’ll get a chance to start and get a chance to play a lot more than he has in the first seven games.” -
Packers | Crosby struggling on longer field goals
6 Nov 2009 | 2:08 pmRob Demovsky, of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, reports Green Bay Packers PK Mason Crosby has struggled on longer field goals this season. Crosby is 1-for-4 on field goals of 50 yards or more, and he has also missed a field goal from 49 yards this year. Crosby is 7-for-15 in his career on field goals of 50 yards or longer. -

6 Nov 2009 | 1:51 pmThe Associated Press reports Green Bay Packers DL B.J. Raji, DL Johnny Jolly and CB Al Harris have each been fined $5,000 by the NFL for their actions Week 8. Raji was fined for a major facemask violation. Harris was fined for unnecessary roughness after grabbing a helmet opening to make a tackle. Jolly was fined for unnecessary roughness for head-butting Minnesota Vikings RB Chester Taylor. -
Browns | J. Lewis would like to partially own an NFL team
6 Nov 2009 | 1:51 pmMarla Ridenour, of the Akron Beacon Journal, reports Cleveland Browns RB Jamal Lewis said he is ready to focus on his trucking company and other business ventures. Lewis also said he would like to be part-owner for an NFL team. Lewis added, “Whichever one of the owners would want to invite me in. I've made multimultimillions, I think it's time to move up to another step. It's about the money, but it's (also) about what you can instill in a team. A lot of the views I have, the teams I've been on, there's a lot of things I would have done different if I were in that position. You would make… -
Browns | J. Lewis wanted to leave on his own terms
6 Nov 2009 | 1:34 pmMarla Ridenour, of the Akron Beacon Journal, reports Cleveland Browns RB Jamal Lewis said Wednesday, Nov. 4, that he would like to leave on his own terms, much like former Browns RB Jim Brown. Lewis is planning to retire after the 2009 season, even though he has a year left on his contract. Brown walked away from football after nine seasons to make movies. Lewis said, “He left on his own terms . . . and I like that. When I came into this league, I modeled (myself) after Jim Brown and I always wanted to follow in his footsteps in everything he did. One of my main goals was to leave when I…

Fantasy Football Running Back Start/Sit Rankings (Week 9)
5 Nov 2009 | 5:31 am*Any additional updates that are necessary will be posted no later than Saturday in the final Week 9 (2009) rankings.1. Maurice Jones–Drew (JAC) – In his last 2 games, Jones-Drew has accumulated an unbelievable 351 all-purpose yards and 5 TDs. MJD now leads all other NFL RBs with 10 rushing TDs in 7 games and he has multiple TDs in 3 games this season. Nothing against Adrian Peterson, but Jones-Drew is building a strong case to be recognized as the new undisputed king of fantasy football. As for week 9, conditions are certainly favorable for yet another monster fantasy effort against a… -

Fantasy Football Quarterback Start/Sit Rankings (Week 9)
5 Nov 2009 | 4:49 am*Any additional updates that are necessary will be posted no later than Saturday in the final Week 9 (2009) rankings.1. Tom Brady (NE) – With 688 passing yards and 9 TD passes in his last 2 games, it is safe to say that Brady has completely returned to top flight form. He should continue his dominance in week 9 against a very inexperienced Miami secondary that features two rookie starters at CB and another rookie corner in nickel situations. With the extra week to prepare, you can count on Brady to pick apart the Dolphin secondary in week 9.2. Peyton Manning (IND) – He may have started a… -
Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Start/Sit Rankings (Week 9)
5 Nov 2009 | 4:42 am*Updated WR rankings with player analysis for the top 25 will be posted on Friday (11/6/09). Any additional updates that are necessary will be posted no later than Saturday in the final week 9 rankings.1. Reggie Wayne (IND) – He ranks 1st in the NFL in receptions per game (7), receiving yards per game (98), targets per game (11), and receiving TDs (6). Wayne has been the most consistently productive fantasy receiver in the NFL to this point and there is no reason to believe that a mediocre Texans secondary will be able to slow him down in week 9. Wayne has 24 receptions for 330 yards and 2…

Week 4 Watch List
29 Sep 2009 | 10:44 amHere are some players to keep an eye on this week. If they continue to perform, add them to your roster. QB Mark Sanchez (NYJ): His numbers are not jaw-dropping, but he is fairly consistent and plays on a team with a good defense and good running game. Which makes him a solid play if your [...] -
Week 4 Waiver Wire
29 Sep 2009 | 10:44 amHere are some guys you should have added last week. But on the off chance that they are still available in your (bush) league, go grab them now: QB Kevin Kolb (PHI): It is still unclear how much longer QB Donovan McNabb will be out, but Kolb has shown that he can play. Now that bye [...] -
3 Losers & a Douchebag
28 Sep 2009 | 5:08 pmLoser #1: I think we can officially say that WR Terrell Owens is no longer an elite fantasy WR. He had zero catches in week 3, and only has 5 catches for 98 yards and a TD on the season. Which is what he used to have in a game. For falling from fantasy stardom, [...] -
Week 3 Injury Update
28 Sep 2009 | 4:54 pmHere are some key injury updates… QB Chad Pennington (MIA): Pennington (shoulder) could be done for the year. QB Chad Henne will likely take over, and could be a decent QB2 against favorable matchups. But I would wait and see what he does. QB Marc Bulger (STL): Bulger (shoulder) could miss some time. If he is out, [...]

Who To Start, Who To Sit–Week 9
5 Nov 2009 | 10:05 pmQuarterbacks Start: Matt Cassel, Kansas City Chiefs at Jacksonville Jaguars. Cassel has had a pretty up and down season as he has three games in which he has thrown two touchdown passes and two where he didn’t throw any. The good part of Cassel was that he wasn’t turning the ball over, as he had only thrown two interceptions before last week where he failed to throw for even 100 yards and had three picks. But this week he will face the Jaguars, who even made Vince Young look like a viable quarterback again last week. Jacksonville has allowed nearly 250 yards per game… -
Five Game Parlay–Week 8
31 Oct 2009 | 8:07 amIt was a great week for the Fantastic Five as all of us at least picked at a .500 level for the first time all year. The standings are still very close as only five and a half games separate first from last and as any of you know who pick games regularly, that can change in a hurry. These last few weeks have been difficult with the bye weeks, as there have been fewer games to choose from and the point spreads have been huge. Unfortunately for our pickers, this week is the most extreme of them all as far as that is concerned. Personally, I am concerned this week, as I was not overly… -
Team Defense Rankings–Week 8
29 Oct 2009 | 8:36 pmIn this column we will be highlighting some of the team defenses that aren’t among the best in the league, but might be able to help you if you are one of those people who play the rotating game with your DEF, or if your team is on bye. I will not tell you to start any of the following in this article because they are no brainers: Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants, New York Jets, Green Bay Packers, San Diego Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings Two Matchups To Target Arizona Cardinals vs. Carolina Panthers. The Cardinals defense are coming off two… -
On The Radar–Week 8
28 Oct 2009 | 7:55 pmOn The Radar is what I believe will be the most added guys in your leagues this week, and I will give you an idea of if you need to think about adding them, just keep your eye on them, or let someone else be the dope who picks up the one week wonder. Alex Smith, QB, San Francisco 49ers. Once the number one overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, Smith had to take a massive pay cut just to avoid being cut by the 49ers coming into this season. Smith has had his share of chances to lead the 49ers offense in the past and he has done nothing to instill any confidence that he could do that… -
Who To Start, Who To Sit–Week 8
27 Oct 2009 | 12:13 amI have to start out this week by wishing my brother Scott a very Happy Birthday this Tuesday (10/27) as the old bastard turns 36. He is one of the best and most fun guys that I know in my life and he has taught me and inspired so much in my life. Have a great day Bro, and may there be many more! You are awesome! Quarterbacks Start: Jay Cutler, Chicago Bears vs. Cleveland Browns. I know this one seems like an easy one, but there weren’t many choices that I didn’t think were either too easy or not great matchups. I kinda feel bad about some of these picks. Before…

$ Why neither the Colts nor the Saints will win the Super Bowl
4 Nov 2009 | 10:41 amWith each team at 7-0, the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints are everyone’s midseason picks to represent their respective conferences in the Super Bowl. People are even talking about one or both of them going undefeated. While this is nothing new for the Colts, the Saints are experiencing this type of media coverage and scrutiny for the first time. But underneath all the hoopla, there are serious problems that both teams face in terms of upcoming schedules and on-field production-problems that may keep both of these teams from even getting to the Super Bowl. Joseph Addai… -
Getting the Drop on Receivers
4 Nov 2009 | 8:47 amNothing will ruin a fantasy owners’ day quicker than when they’re watching a game, and a player on their fantasy team is w-w-w-w-i-i-i-i-i-d-d-d-d-e-e-e-e open down the field, with a pass coming his way that’s sure to be a touchdown … until … THUD … dropped pass; no yards, and no points for your fantasy team. It’s maddening, and unfortunately, all too common. It’s what helped Braylon Edwards go from stud to lower than dud last season. Let’s take a gander at some of the players that are, literally, dropping the ball for fantasy owners this season. AFC The American Football… -
Chris Johnson — Overrated?
3 Nov 2009 | 1:45 pmI have a friend who told me this weekend that Chris Johnson is amazing, and it’s hard to disagree at first glance. Few players can compete with the game-changing performances he brings to the table. If you’ve watched any Titans games this season or at least tuned into the “fastest three minutes” segment of Monday Night Football to hear Chris Berman “Whoop!” and “Whaap!”, you know that Chris Johnson has been electrifying. As of week eight, Johnson leads the NFL in rushing yards with 824 and through seven games he has 961 yards from scrimmage this… -
Week 8 Review: Targets
2 Nov 2009 | 7:04 amIt’s Monday, so it’s time to get going on our weekly routine of looking at targets from the previous day’s NFL action. - Nate Burleson, Seattle Seahawks: Matt Hasselbeck looked Burleson’s way 12 times in the Seahawks’ loss to the Cowboys on Sunday; he caught six of those throws for 89 yards. Burleson’s 12 targets were double the amount T.J. Houshmandzadeh received, and it vaulted Burleson past Housh in targets for the season. Burleson is now sixth in the NFL and third in the NFC with 66 targets. - Michael Crabtree, San Francisco 49ers: A week after getting targeted a total of six… -
Waiver Wire Pick-Ups
28 Oct 2009 | 7:08 amIt’s the middle of the NFL season, and you can count on one undeniable truth at this point in the season: injuries and bye weeks are playing havoc with fantasy owners’ lineups. To help you try and fill the void, here’s a look at some players that very well could be available in your league. - Shonn Greene, RB, New York Jets: With Leon Washington out with a broken leg, the backup duties at running back for the Jets falls squarely on the shoulders of Greene, a rookie who was the first pick of the third round in last April’s draft. He steps into an excellent situation in…

Week 9 Hot Hands and Cold Shoulders: Any Given Sunday
6 Nov 2009 | 9:15 amI watched Any Given Sunday last night. Twice. No matter how many times you watch that movie, it makes you want to run through a wall, and then a pack of linebackers, followed by another wall. Every. Time. I didn’t even need to drink coffee this morning. I’d already run out of walls. (Okay, that’s a lie. I still drank my coffee, but I didn’t HAVE to drink it.) Rather than give you some silly intro into this start or sit article, let me leave you with the immortal words of Coach Al Pacino. I yell this at my fantasy teams every time they lose. Fourth & 1 Debate: Nine Moves to Make for the Fantasy Football Playoffs
5 Nov 2009 | 11:00 amAt this point in the season, you might be more concerned with getting to the playoffs than succeeding once you get there. That’s okay. Take it one week at a time. I’ll wait… But if you have the true heart of a champion, some good luck, and if you’ve been doing your research, you’ve probably go a nice spot on the mantel dusted and ready for this year’s fantasy football championship trophy. It’s okay if we block this photo of the in-laws, right? In that case, it’s best to start planning for your future, and we’re not talking about your… -
On the Wire: Week 9 Pickups and Must-Claims
3 Nov 2009 | 10:45 amThere’s nothing glamorous about pickups at this point in the season. You’re either struggling to find meaning in your season after falling desperately behind the rest of the teams in your league or fortifying and defending your team by building a stronger bench with these free agents. But the picks are especially un-sexy this week. Pick ‘em if you gotta. Hot Claims Ryan Moats, RB, Houston Texans: While Steve Slaton warmed the bench and thought about what he had done (fumbled), Moats ran for 126 yards and three touchdowns against the Buffalo Bills. And don’t forget… -
Foolish Thoughts: Marc Bulger and Sunday Night Sadness
3 Nov 2009 | 9:00 amBaseball stole our Sunday Night Football. How is that fair? Give it back, World Series. I demand it. I’m fine with baseball as long as I don’t have to sit through an entire game. In my opinion, it should be played in highlight form, jumping to the major parts and leaving out all the rest. Pitching change? No, sir. You should only be able to make a change between innings. You play yourself out of your own mess, pitcher. We could also probably speed things up by not using a third baseman. If you get past second, you have to beat the catcher to home plate or get caught trying. Yeah,… -
Starting Beanie Wells over Andre Johnson: Smart Play or Crazy Talk?
31 Oct 2009 | 6:00 pmIn a fantasy football group I participate in each week, Fantasy Football Fanatics on LinkedIn, I recommended going with Beanie Wells in a flex spot over Andre Johnson this week. Am I crazy or is this smart strategy? I’m going with the numbers here. My argument for going with Beanie: There is definitely a huge risk factor in starting Beanie. Still, he’s a hot hand and I’d go with my gut on him. I really don’t think A.J. is going to go this week. He has a bruised lung. That hurts (I can only imagine.) Besides, the Texans know they probably don’t need him to beat…

2009 Fantasy Booms and Busts - Week 9
6 Nov 2009 | 9:37 am1. QB Carson Palmer vs. Baltimore Ravens Don’t be fooled into believing that Baltimore’s defensive performance last week means they’re back to playing like the 2000 Ravens defense did. They’re not. And Palmer is a notorious Ravens killer. The Bengals receivers will be too much for the Ravens secondary to handle and Palmer will throw for at least 250 with a few TDs. 2. RB Ryan Grant vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers The Buccaneers defense turns every opposing RB into a No. 1 fantasy starter the week they play them. And this week, even though he’s playing behind a patchwork… -
2009 NFL Suicide Pool Pick - Week 9
6 Nov 2009 | 6:34 amHere’s our top three suicide pool picks for Week Nine of the NFL. 1. Atlanta Falcons vs. Washington Redskins The Falcons have lost two straight but are right in the thick of the NFC Wild Card hunt. And this week, they’ll get back in the win column when the dysfunctional Redskins come to town. Look for Atlanta to pound the ball with Michael Turner throughout the afternoon and then utilize the play-action pass to Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez when the Safeties come up to help. Defensively, the confidence level of Jason Campbell and Co. is so low that the Falcons only need to bring… -
2009 NFL Picks - Week 9
5 Nov 2009 | 6:15 amWe hit on three of our four top picks in Week Eight and our sixth money line bet of the season. Here’s who we like for Week Nine. Best Bet 1. Pittsburgh Steelers (-3) vs. Denver Broncos It was only a matter of time before the Broncos came crashing down to earth. The Ravens, in their 30-7 romp over Denver last Sunday, exposed some of the weaknesses on this offense, namely Kyle Orton’s inability to throw down field, and you can expect the Steelers to follow that blue print. You can also expect Pittsburgh to play a physical game and wear the Broncos down offensively and defensively. -
2009 Fantasy Rankings - Week 9 D/ST
4 Nov 2009 | 6:02 am1. Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Denver Broncos The Baltimore Ravens showed the blueprint for keeping the Broncos offense in check: pressure. Since Orton’s not adept to throwing deep, if you bring the Safeties closer to the line, it limit’s Denver’s effectiveness. Look for Polamalu to play close to the line and the Steelers front seven to pressure Orton into sacks and turnovers. They’re our top ranked fantasy football D/ST in Week Nine. 2. 4 Nov 2009 | 5:45 am1. Antonio Gates vs. New York Giants If C.C Brown is assigned to cover Gates, DC Bill Sheridan should be fired and Gates fantasy owners should be ecstatic. You’ll be guaranteed at least one TD and probably close to 100 yards working the middle of the field. Going against a troubled Giants defense at this point, Gates is our top fantasy football TE in Week Nine. 2. Dallas Clark vs. Houston Texans Clark is a beast to handle who works the middle of the field better than anyone. And Peyton Manning knows how to get him the ball. Expect another strong effort with at least one TD when the…

23 Sep 2009 | 12:39 amRyan Parr is the founder and CEO of Fantazzle Fantasy Sports Games. Weekly fantasy football games for cash prizes including free fantasy football. So to reiterate what you hear from everyone about fantasy football. Don’t overreact. Don’t get rid of stars that have started slow. That said, you should start making moves to shore up your bench. In most leagues, you have a couple of spots that are iffy and if those fantasy guys haven’t produced thus far, you can make some add/drops. Guys like Chris Chambers, Le’Ron McClain, Edgerrin James, drop and pick up guys that have… -

20 Sep 2009 | 4:31 amIf you missed the NFC NFL Football Predictions, take a look. This post is for the AFC Conference. More than I believe people realize. When I do my research before the season and during the season, I spend a lot of time getting my thoughts…
