Two of the Detroit Lions biggest offensive threats are both on the injury report for their Sunday matchup with the Atlanta Falcons in London. Running back Reggie Bush is officially listed as doubtful and is unlikely to play. Star receiver Calvin Johnson is listed as questionable and will be a game-time decision. Bush is second on the team in rushing yards with 171 and in receptions with 25. He has been bothered by an ankle injury for a couple of weeks. Johnson, who has missed the past two weeks due to a sprained ankle, is still second on the team in receiving yards with 348 and is tied for a…

Simultaneously, reports of Harvin’s recent anger issues while with the Seahawks surfaced to “explain” the move. • Things that impact lineup decisions

    25 Oct 2014 | 9:53 am
I know the standard response is "start the guys who you think will score the most.". But, let's be honest, no one is 100% sure who will score more on any given week. So when you have 2 guys who you think will score similar points, what other things factor into your decision? And which factors arr mor important? 1-RB/WR; if it's a flex position, does a RB or WR get the nod? Why? 2-Game time; if me guy plays on TNF, SNF, or MNF, does that factor into the decision? How much? 3-Playing for "your team." Do you give an edge to your hometowns guys? Again, this is for players you have projected for…

  • Kyle Juszczyk, FB Ravens - anything to see here?

    25 Oct 2014 | 7:02 am
[(KFFL)Baltimore Ravens rookie TE Crockett Gillmore will receive the start at tight end in Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals, and the Ravens appear to have plenty of confidence in him. "He gets better every day as a receiver," head coach John Harbaugh said. "He's not the fastest guy in the world --- not to be confused with a speed merchant -- but he has good hands. He has very good body control. The big tight ends are really valuable in this league because they have catch radius and they can get away from a defender. It's hard to cover them one-on-one. That'd be a big asset for us if he…

  • Michael Floyd's Fantasy Football Value Remains High with Carson Palmer at QB

    25 Oct 2014 | 1:19 pm
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer is now fully healed from a nerve contusion in his throwing shoulder that held him out for three games this season, and the only people happier than wide receiver Michael Floyd are his fantasy owners. Palmer and Floyd began to establish a nice chemistry in 2013, and many fantasy enthusiasts pegged the wide receiver as a candidate for massive production in 2014. Things started with a bang for the third-year receiver after collecting five receptions for 119 yards against the San Diego Chargers in Week 1. Unfortunately, that would be Palmer's last game…
  • Darren McFadden Is Elite Flex Option for Fantasy Owners vs. Browns in Week 8

    25 Oct 2014 | 12:27 pm
Nothing has gone right for the Oakland Raiders upon starting 0-6 this season. Fantasy owners haven't been thrilled with the performance of the skill position players, though that will change this weekend for anyone still riding the Darren McFadden train.  McFadden has never been able to duplicate his breakthrough season in 2010 (1,157 yards, seven touchdowns) thanks to injuries in of the last three seasons. Now, despite not having the stats to back it up, the 27-year-old has remained healthy and is on pace for his best year since that huge season.  Following a disastrous Week 1 with…
  • Jordan Cameron Will Have Bounce-Back Week for Fantasy Owners vs. Raiders

    25 Oct 2014 | 12:24 pm
Fantasy owners who invested in Jordan Cameron this season have been left a bit disappointed. Last year's No. 6 tight end in fantasy points has been held in check in 2014 with just 25 total fantasy points, 16 of which came in a big Week 6 performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Those who have been patient with Cameron will be rewarded in Week 8, however, as the Cleveland Browns have a favorable matchup against the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders are giving up 7.5 fantasy points to opposing tight ends per week, 18th in the NFL. Those numbers need a bit of context, however, as not all…
  • Fantasy Football Week 8: Examining Risky Lineup Choices for Sunday Slate

    25 Oct 2014 | 11:48 am
Fortune favors the bold, but catastrophe can also strike upon the daring. In many instances, fantasy football players must decide whether to swing for the fences or play it safe. A life without risk is hardly a full life at all. Is that a wise mantra or a callous daredevil justifying his or her own questionable decisions? Risks are risky for a reason; they could fail miserably and leave you desolate.  Or they can propel you to a Week 8 victory. Decisions, boy are they difficult to make. Just remember, the worse that can happen here is losing a game based on a game. If there is ever a…
  • Larry Fitzgerald Needs Strong Week 8 Outing to Remain Relevant Fantasy Option

    25 Oct 2014 | 10:17 am
Larry Fitzgerald can only get by on his name and past accolades for so long. If he can't muster a strong performance against the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday, the star wide receiver will no longer belong in any fantasy football starting lineups, or roster for that matter. It's a Catch-22 for the decorated veteran, whose 88 career touchdowns rank first among active wide receivers. He's submitted gaudy numbers for subpar clubs in the past, but the 31-year-old is on the verge of the worst season of his 11-year career as the Arizona Cardinals lead the NFC West at 5-1. Through six games,…

The slugger will make $10.2MM in the final year of his deal and his desire not to play right field or work on his defense could spell the end of his time in Boston. 17 Oct 2014 | 7:14 pm
This topic maybe not be a big deal for everyone out there, but for those of us who know how to manipulate such eligibility in our favor, it can be gold.  Depending on league setup, this eligibility can be beneficial in two ways.  For leagues that favor SP heavy categories (W, QS, K, IP, etc.), we want to be able to insert additional SPs in our relief slots.  For those that rely heavily on RP favoring categories (SV, HLD, ERA, WHIP), we seek RPs that can slot into a starter spot.  I'm sure some can utilize both types of strategies within the same…

Amazingly, it’s another good week for the running back needy, and some of you likely lost your starters this week with C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson going down. I would have hoped you’d replace Spiller by now, but I know it’s hard to give up on those preseason plans. I’ll typically assume most previous pickup suggestions have been secured in your league each week, but be sure to snag any Giants receivers that are available as they go on bye this week. That offense could get back on track when next we see them take the field. I’d also prioritize Branden Oliver…

I’m enjoying riding the Branden Oliver train after his performance in Week 6. While he didn’t do as well as he did in Week 5, he held up well as a feature back with 30 carries. I’ll take that all day until Ryan Mathews returns. Ben Tate, Branden Oliver, and Ronnie Hillman have all proved their worth at this point. Andre Williams will need another week to see if the Giants offensive line will show up for him. Keep your eye on Mark Ingram, who should return to his leading role for the Saints this week as long as his health cooperates. Isaiah Crowell is also on my radar in a…

Ben Tate Branden Oliver Andre Williams Mark Ingram Knowshon Moreno Ronnie Hillman Odell Beckham Jr. C.J. If this offense keeps moving, he could finally be a solid contributor in Adrian Peterson’s absence. I’m going running back heavy in this edition with some options and stashes reaching a “must own” point this week. Let’s get to the picks. Matt Asiata Jerick McKinnon Justin Forsett Isaiah Crowell Matt Asiata can score. We found that out this week in a hat trick, but his real value is that he remains the most consistent back…

Alfred Blue Lorenzo Taliaferro Andrew Hawkins Marvin Jones Kirk Cousins Chargers D/ST With all the injuries, I’m trying to keep things tight this week. Top Pick 1. Detroit Lions (-3.5) vs. Atl – The only thing keeping the point spread so low is the game being in London. Odds makers must assume the neutral location could have an adverse affect on the Lions. We don’t see it. The Falcons are a mess – especially along the OL, and will be beaten thoroughly in the trenches. Look for an easy win and dominating defensive effort. Next 2. Cincinnati Bengals (+1) vs. Bal – Not a lot has gone right for the Bengals recently and they’re coming off a 27-0 whipping at the hands of the Colts. AJ Green should return this week…

Week 6 saw a few thought to be shoe-ins fall: San Diego Chargers, Cleveland Browns and Seattle Seahawks (again). It’s now onto Week 7 of the NFL suicide pool. Our top three NFL suicide pool picks are: Top 1. Dallas Cowboys vs. Was – The Cowboys will roll to an easy win on Monday Night. Typically rivalry games are tricky, but not when the Redskins will be without their top defensive player (Brian Orakpo) and starting 3rd stringer QB Colt McCoy. Look for Dallas to easily cover the point spread and win by double digits. Next 2. Cleveland Browns vs. Oak – Last week was…

One of my great joys is watching all of the fluctuation in player stock over this time and attempting to take advantage of the ups and downs before they ‘even out’ when the football begins. Throughout the offseason we hear… “Player X will break out” “Player Y won’t match last year’s production” “Player Z is in a great situation to thrive” … and a great deal of how we value a player is driven by what we…

Often, things like quarterback hurries, quarterback knockdowns, or snap counts don’t appear in the box scores. These are key indicators of potential value changes that may be forthcoming as they show a particular player is getting after the quarterback and a string of sacks may be on the horizon or a linebacker may be coming off of the field…

FFLockerRoom Sports: While I am sure the Phillies would love to keep him, they are a team that is in transition and would be better suited to deal him, clearing the four-years and $96 million off of their books while bringing in a few solid prospects and possible Major League ready talent. FFLockerRoom Sports: Utley can still swing the stick as evidenced by his triple slash of .270/.339/.407 from the second base spot. With offense/scoring down across the board last season, a second baseman who can hit, even at Utley’s advanced age, would be intriguing to most teams if the price is right. 25 Oct 2014 | 5:33 am
Designated hitter Victor Martinez is expected to turn down the Detroit Tigers qualifying offer which in turn will make him a free agent. FFLockerRoom Sports: Martinez, who turns 36 this off-season, had a monster 2014 season batting .335 with 32 home runs and 103 RBI. He is rumored to be eyeing a four-year deal which he very well could get considering his bat and leadership ability. Depending on his price-tag, he could work his way out of Detroit’s 2015 plans. They do have Torii Hunter who is also a free agent and would be a much cheaper, shorter sign and could fill in admirably at DH.

After spending three years as the starting quarterback at Division 1-AA Eastern Illinois, Romo went undrafted in 2003. How Will Percy Harvin’s Trade to the Jets Impact His Fantasy Value? The trade of Percy Harvin from the Seattle Seahawks to the New York Jets came as a bit of a shock to fantasy football fans, as well as everyone else. It’s the second time he has been traded since being drafted 22nd overall in 2009 by the Minnesota Vikings. There is no doubt that Harvin possesses the raw talent to be a successful player at the professional level, which means he has a ton of potential in fantasy football as well. So far though, his production has not lived up to the hype. Moving to Seattle was supposed to…

Will Anyone Ever Break Peyton Manning’s Touchdown Record? Football fans everywhere are well aware by now that Peyton Manning broke the record for career touchdown passes last week on Sunday Night Football. He entered the game against the San Francisco 49ers needing two to tie the record and three to set a new record. He had the record broke before the end of the first half, finishing the game with a total of four touchdown passes. He had just as many incompletions on the night. It was just another day in the office for Peyton Manning and another check mark on a historic career. That game…

SOURCES: Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins Could Be Traded Before Deadline Over the past few weeks, a lot of big time trades happened. Former Seattle Seahawks WR Percy Harvin was traded to the New York Jets. Former Tennessee Titans linebacker Akeem Ayers was sent to New England Patriots. And now there are rumors, which is bound to happen, that the Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins could be dealt before the October 28 deadline. Kirk Cousins was once projected to take over the starting quarterback role for the Redskins. If you can remember, former Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann…

Week 8 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Another week of Fantasy Football is in the books, which means it’s once again time to hit up your league’s waiver wire. It’s possible you’ve been fortunate enough to not withstand any big injuries to this point, but it’s not all that likely. Whether it’s one of the big ones people have been dealing with like Calvin Johnson or A.J. Green, or one that came up to bite you in week seven, you could be hurting. That, or maybe simple old by weeks are coming to get you in week eight. Whatever the case may be, the waiver wire is…

  • Week 8 Fantasy Football Sleepers: Bargain Buys at Draft Kings

    Taylor Smith
    24 Oct 2014 | 12:54 pm
I’ve pretty much run out of ways to start this article, so I guess we should just jump right into it. *waits* *is awkwardly just standing here* All of these guys are at $5k or below on Draft Kings. Except for QBs, because none of those A-holes are less than $5k. Haughty bastards.  Quarterbacks Nick Foles, Philadelphia Eagles ($6.3k) Foles hasn’t been all that great, which is probably why his price is so low these days. However, he’s still a part of perhaps the NFL’s most explosive offense, so there’s always the chance that he could explode, as well. Philly has a…

The NFL season isn’t even halfway over, but the fantasy season feels like it’s in the home stretch. unfortunately, there’s still plenty of time for your top players to get hurt. At the same time, there’s still plenty of time for your season to be turned around for the better with a few creative transactions.  The NFL changes so much from week to week, that it’s hard to drown out the white noise, and decide which players are deserving of a serious look, and which ones are just a flash in the pan. That’s why I’m here to help. My weekly Buy/Sell posts…
  • Week 8 Fantasy Football Sleepers: Drew Brees and the Top DFS Value Buys

    Kevin Roberts
    24 Oct 2014 | 6:52 am
There’s nothing better than value in fantasy football. Perhaps it doesn’t ring true specifically for season long leagues, but if you’re into the daily/weekly grind, nothing beats a cheap sleeper that ultimately goes nuts. The trouble is, they’re kind of tough to come by, and they’re even harder to actually muster up the guts to play when cash is on the line. But sometimes you just gotta roll with your gut and lean on the logic. For instance, Drew Brees is just $8.1k over at Draft Kings this week. That’s not exactly cheap, but compared to Aaron Rodgers ($9k…

Short of starting your studs in fantasy football, sometimes you actually have to put some actual thought into finalizing your weekly lineup. Yes, you play your studs, and then what? Injuries, roles and the beast of them all – matchups – all can come into play. We tackle the big one right here for week eight, as we try to figure out which defenses are best to attack while they’re down. There’s some really good ones this week, so pay mind and decide for yourself how you should utilize the info on your own fantasy roster: Panthers, Falcons and Buccaneers in General These…
  • Scouting East Carolina QB Shane Carden For The 2015 NFL Draft

    Mark Morales-Smith
    23 Oct 2014 | 4:43 pm
Name: Shane Carden Position: QB College: East Carolina Year: Senior Height: 6’2 Weight: 221 Unofficial 40-yard dash: 4.82 Projected Round in NFL Draft: 3-4 Shane Carden has emerged as one of the most prolific QBs in NCAA football. After a very solid 2013 season, he has come out and torched opposing defenses this season. He had a three game stretch in which he threw for over 400 yards and three TDs against two ACC defenses (Virginia Tech, UNC) and SMU. Throughout that stretch he totaled 1,275 yards, 11 TDs and just one interception. There is no doubt that Carden can put up stats in bunches.

  • NEWS: Shonn Greene arrested for fleeing scene of a parking/ticket situation on Friday night.

    Smitty
    25 Oct 2014 | 9:48 am
SMITTY: It sounds like an officer was attempting to issue Shonn Greene a ticket for parking in a handicap parking space and the running back got into his vehicle and and pulled off some reckless driving on his way out of the spot and around the officer. Why can’t Greene move like this on the field? The rusher was charged with a handicap parking violation, driving on a suspended license, reckless driving and resisting to stop. He turned himself after finding out that he had a warrant out for his arrest, but he was later released after posting bond. It’s tough to say how this will…
  • NEWS: Calvin Johnson (questionable) is not expected to play in Week 8; Reggie Bush (ankle) now doubtful.

    25 Oct 2014 | 5:14 am
SMITTY: We have been hearing this for a while now, so we’re simply passing along the reinforcing info on this one whenever it shows its ugly face. His ankle injury clearly is bad and the logic here is that the team will rest both Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush (ankle) this week since the Lions are on a bye in Week 9 (giving both players two weeks to get healthier). Kick off for this game, in London, is at 9:30 AM ET, so stay close to both this news wire and your Smart Alerts for updates on both players. For now, get ready for a whole lot of Golden Tate and Joique Bell, especially with…
  • NEWS: Jonas Gray could see an increased role in Week 8?

    Smitty
    25 Oct 2014 | 5:00 am
SMITTY: There are a few sources right now talking up Jonas Gray. No one is predicting amazing things, but what we are hearing is that he is considered the big back on that roster, which could spell goal line work. It could turn into more, it could be nothing. Basically, if you count on Gray this week for whatever reason, realize that using him is the definition of high-risk/reward. Shane Vereen should have a big Week 8, as he is the most dynamic rusher on that New England roster, but stranger things have happened in New England at the position. As for Vereen, he is probable after battling an…

SMITTY: Most all reports/sources are predicting that he plays, and despite playing last week and pulling in zero passes, fantasy owners almost have to start Jimmy Graham if he is playing. Even if used in red zone situations, the guy can score 2TDs in such a role. Check out where we have Jimmy Graham ranked on our Week 8 Power Rankings. As for those Saints rushers, Mark Ingram just got a huge bump (him and Travaris Cadet, who could play the PT role), given that both Pierre Thomas and Khiry Robinson are both out for this one. The Broncos, RonnieHillman is expected to start in place of Montee Ball, who will also miss a few weeks with a groin injury. Jamaal Charles returned with a vengeance in Week 4, let’s hope it’s the start of things to come. Eddie Lacy  and Le Shon McCoy are off to slow starts can they get on track?  Calvin Johnson has struggled the last few weeks because of injury, but if healthy he should bounce back this week against the Bills.  Tom Brady is…
