The Jordan Cameron hype machine keeps charging forward, this time with the help of the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot. Here's what she wrote in her latest mailbag column on Saturday: "The Browns really like tight end Jordan Cameron as their starting tight end and plan to throw to him a lot. Cameron was targeted on plenty of deep balls in OTAs." FANTASY ANALYSIS: Everybody's talking about Cameron's opportunity as the Browns' starter this year. The 24-year-old is a former basketball player with a big 6-foot 5-inch frame and natural receiving skills. And he's being coached by a couple…

  • After 12 NFL seasons, someone has finally taught Eagles QB Michael Vick how to carry the ball

    19 May 2013 | 7:43 pm
Apparently. You would think that some coach -- Dan Reeves? Jim Mora Jr? Andy Reid? -- would teach one of the most dangerous running quarterbacks in the history of football how to carry the ball while running. But Vick said Eagles head coach Chip Kelly finally got it done. "Chip told me how to run with the football the other day," Vick said in a radio interview last week. "He tought me how to run with the football and how to carry the football, and I think it's something that you just have to work on. What he did last year with the Raiders, in a crazy situation, I thought was very, very impressive." FANTASY ANALYSIS: That deep-throw ability is one…

  • Is Michael Floyd underrated?

    18 May 2013 | 2:58 pm
I don't own Floyd in any leagues and haven't made any real efforts to change that, but I see him consistently rated well below other comparable prospects like Justin Blackmon, Josh Gordon, DeAndre Hopkins, and Cordarrelle Patterson. Is he underrated? He was a higher draft pick than Hopkins and Patterson. On paper, he seems to possess prototypical #1 receiver tools at 6'2.5" 220 with 4.40 speed and solid workout numbers. He was a consistently good player in college. He had a fairly modest rookie year, but Arizona's entire passing game was toxic last season. It's hard to blame that all on…

Worst position groups in the NFL: Offense By Gregg RosenthalAround The League Editor Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brian Hartline said Monday morning on "NFL AM" that he was part of the best wide receiver group in the AFC East. This sounds outlandish until the moment you realize it is undeniably true. The other three teams in the division all have poor wide receiver groups. Which got me thinking: What are the worst position groups in the NFL? Since it's a Monday in May, and my family doesn't really enjoy my company, I had time to break it down. Offense up first. Worst…

  • 2013 Fantasy Football Profile and Projection: Jets RB Chris Ivory

    19 May 2013 | 6:53 am
When it comes to fantasy sports, a player's opportunity can be nearly as important as his talent. Chris Ivory should finally get the opportunity to showcase his talent in 2013.Although Ivory led the New Orleans Saints in rushing in 2010 as a rookie with 716 yards, he has been buried on the team's depth chart over the past two seasons behind Mark Ingram, Pierre Thomas and Darren Sproles. In fact, he played in only 12 games over those two seasons combined. In the offseason, the New York Jets traded their fourth-round pick to the Saints for Ivory, who agreed to a three-year deal with the Jets.

A scoring defense saves seasons in fantasy football, especially when those defenses are underrated.Every team in your fantasy league will have multiple offensive players that score consistently, so possessing a defense that also gets it done on a weekly basis unfolds as a competitive advantage.Whether it's multiple sacks, turnovers or a special teams touchdown, those points accumulate rather quickly. Although that's to be expected from obvious defenses such as the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos, the following defenses offer just as much potential entering this campaign. Cleveland…

However, the key is making sure that you get the right one, and that you time it right as well. Kickers often get no respect in terms of the draft. Sure, we all understand football betting odds, and how to make our favorite tailgating treat, but understanding the Big Game's relationship to Wall Street is a bit hard to grasp, at best. And yes, we think it's a giant coincidence. Still here's the basic gist: The Super Bowl indicator holds that a victory by an NFC team or an original (pre-1970 merger) NFL team—the Browns, Colts, and Steelers—point to a bullish market the following year. An AFC victory signals a bearish drop in the market. The Super Bowl Theory has been an accurate indicator 37 times out of the past 46 times. Those are…

If we can’t believe mock drafts, who are we to believe when it comes to predicting the NFL draft? iProspect proposes we should listen to social media. More specifically, they think we can use Twitter, Facebook, blogs, and message board mentions to predict the top 10 picks in the draft. Via Mashable: That’s the premise of some algorithmic number-crunching done by the online marketing company iProspect. The firm tracked mentions on Facebook, Twitter, blogs, message boards and other platforms of the draft’s top prospects. It kept tabs on which players were mentioned the most…

Most mock drafts are nonsense. You can stop reading them. We don’t know any better than the Jaguars do who’s going to take who in the draft. This year, everyone seems to be accepting that, and we didn’t put together a mock draft here at Fools. But they are fun to do, aren’t they? For your entertainment, I offer up Ufford’s take on mock drafts, which I believe gets it right – they’re mostly fan fiction for the people watching at home…hoping desperately that their home team doesn’t screw it up. It’s nice to think for a while that…

    3 May 2013 | 10:08 am
Photo By: Joshua S. Kelly / USA TODAY Sports DeAndre Hopkins HOU (1st RD) - While Cordarrelle Patterson may have the best upside from a raw skills perspective in this years class, it is Deandre Hopkins that is No.1 on my board. In Hopkins you have the most polished receiver in this class and he should be a slam dunk, week one starter opposite Andre Johnson. At worst case Hopkins will be a bye week starting option in his rookie year and at best case he’s probably a weekly WR3 play. By next year we should see his floor at WR3, and his upside could blossom as far as a WR1 in PPR leagues,…

It’s probably a good idea to pass on running backs in the middle rounds of your draft if you should miss out on the first eight backs on this list. Giovani Bernard, CIN (1st Round) - Bernard had a hard upbringing as his mom passed away when he was a kid and he even lived with another family for a time, while his Dad went off to look for work. I love this kid and his pass receiving skills will make him a start in PPR leagues. For now, he will have to play…

Adding receivers Robert Woods, Marquise Goodwin and tight end Chris Gragg add speed to Buffalo’s offense, and the pickup ultra-talented yet troubled receiver Da’Rick Rogers after the draft, gives Manuel an exciting group of players to grow with. • Price Check: Jordan Cameron

    Steve Wyremski
    19 May 2013 | 5:00 am
Talk about skyrocketing value. Jordan Cameron’s ADP and trade value have ballooned over the last few weeks. He’s gone from a player commonly ranked around the 20th to 25th tight end to a guy comfortably slated in the 10th to 15th range. The rise is mostly due to recent comments from the Browns’ coaching staff that have led fantasy owners to speculate about Cameron’s ceiling given his athletic ability, as well the Browns’ new offensive scheme under head coach Rob Chudzinski. Specifically, Coach Chudzinski recently spoke about the Browns’ new offense stating, “This is an…

    18 May 2013 | 5:00 am
Last year, I read an impassioned article by Tim Stafford about why vetoing trades should be disallowed, found here. The point of the article is that owners should be responsible enough to decide the fate of their team. After all, the NFL allows every trade and fantasy football is based on what a professional team would do (wink, wink). Remember this isn’t the NFL where every team is worth hundreds of millions of dollars. A dynasty league usually only requires a yearly fee or perhaps a two-year investment. Let’s explore a recently vetoed trade in one of the leagues I am in as I…

Over that 51-game span, he’s posted 4,521 rushing yards (on 4.5 yards per carry) and scored a ridiculous 44 rushing touchdowns. When you add in his 167 catches, 1,531 receiving yards and six additional scores through the air, you have the definition of a fantasy stud. Owners who were lucky enough to land him late in their 2009 rookie draft or as an undrafted free agent later that Summer likely have at least one dynasty championship to show for…

Rewind to a week before the draft and the number one rookie pick was Eddie Lacy in most instances.  Ever since an injury induced draft slide found him landing on the Green Bay Packers roster alongside Jonathan Franklin, he’s been slowly trickling down the dynasty rankings.  On the other hand, Montee Ball has seen his stock skyrocket since being selected in the second round by the Denver Broncos.  In March, he was being picked in mocks as the eighth rookie off the board.  Now, he’s a consensus top ten rookie pick with some taking him as early as second or third overall.  Chris Rohrer…

Credit flickr This guide presents ideas for how your fantasy league could determine draft order from year to year. Draft order is a highly-debated topic as many owners covet the high draft slots and all owners base their strategy on their draft position. There are several ways that your league can determine draft order. The method you choose for your league will likely depend on whether this is your league's first year or not. We will cover six of the most popular options for determining draft order: two for new leagues and four for existing leagues. Random Draft Order for New Leagues For new…

Example of printable player note. I recently blogged about rolling out version 2.10 of Cheat Sheet War Room which [finally] added PPR support to our custom cheat sheet interface.  This is a great feature that was long overdue.  But another cool feature which was included in this release is the addition of custom player notes to your printable fantasy football cheat sheets. Registered users have two options when it comes to generating a printable cheat sheet for their fantasy draft.  First, they can generate a cheat sheet for each of the six standard fantasy positions in the…

As our users know, each player on a cheat sheet is associated with what we call summary statistics from the previous season: Total…

  • Pittsburgh Steelers Draft RB Le’Veon Bell In The 2013 NFL Draft

    Fantasy Football Junkie
    19 May 2013 | 8:06 pm
2.16 Pittsburgh Steelers Le’Veon Bell, RB, Michigan State (6-1, 230) With the 16th pick in the second round of the NFL Draft, the Steelers selected RB Le’Veon Bell out of Michigan State. It’s hard to imagine a more perfect fit for a skill position player in this draft. Bell is, hopefully, exactly what the Steelers need to give that offense some much-needed balance. Without a skilled back that can make defenses honest, Ben Roethlisberger and company have taken a beating the past couple of seasons. With the pick of Bell, Ben shouldn’t be under nearly as much pressure.
  • Eagles Waive Undrafted Rookie RB Miguel Maysonet

    Fantasy Football Junkie
    19 May 2013 | 7:26 pm
A few days ago, the Eagles signed former Cowboy RB Felix Jones. That meant someone was likely on the way out the door, and that someone is undrafted rookie running back Miguel Maysonet out of Stony Brook. At one point during the offseason, it was believed by some that Maysonet had a decent shot to make the team. Apparently his pro-day at Stony Brook caused a lot of scouts to lower his draft stock but he was signed quickly by the Eagles after the draft. He’s likely to latch on somewhere before training camps officially get underway. During his senior year, he racked up 1,964 rushing…
  • With Cueto Back, Reds Send Tony Cingrani To Triple-A Louisville

    Fantasy Football Junkie
    18 May 2013 | 7:48 pm
With Johhny Cueto returning to action, the Cincinnati Reds had to send LHP Tony Cingrani back to Triple-A Louisville. Cingrani had pitched extremely well for the Reds over his six starts going 2-0 with a 3.27 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP. He also struck out 41 and walked 9. If Mike Leake struggles at all as the fifth man on the Reds rotation, Cingrani would gladly make his way back. Some fantasy baseball players had claimed Cingrani, please make the corresponding move to send him back to the free agent pool.   The post With Cueto Back, Reds Send Tony Cingrani To Triple-A Louisville appeared first…
