Fantasy football sleepers are a big area of analysis. The reason why is that they can give your team and draft a ton more value. Who are some deep sleepers? I will say this before I get started – some of these players are extremely “hands-off”. Fantasy football owners just don’t want to touch them. Bleacher Report - Fantasy Football
    24 Jul 2014 | 3:10 pm
While plenty of rookies have been productive in fantasy football, many young players take a little longer to get acclimated to the NFL. Eddie Lacy, Keenan Allen and others had great starts to their careers and will likely be able to continue with strong performances in their second years. However, this does not mean you should forget about the talented athletes who were less than stellar in their first seasons. Players like Josh Gordon, Nick Foles and Jamaal Charles took big strides in their second seasons to become fantasy stars after mediocre rookie campaigns. These second-year competitors…
  • 2014 Fantasy Football: Can Matt Forte Be a Top-5 Running Back Again?

    Breaking Football
    Terrence Kirker
    24 Jul 2014 | 4:46 pm
There is a lot of hype for the upcoming season surrounding the Chicago Bears. After a disappointing 8-8 campaign last year, the Bears showed hope and promise under their rookie head coach Marc Trestman and the brightest spot had to be how running back Matt Forte flourished in this offense. Forte is a very versatile and dynamic player. I wouldn’t say he’s “great” at any aspect of the RB position, but that he does everything extremely well. There’s no great spot but there’s no bad spot either. He’s just a solid player all around. It’s like having…

    24 Jul 2014 | 9:11 am
White and the Falcons have agreed to a three-year extension that will tie the veteran wideout to the team through the 2017 season. Reports had emerged previously that White wanted a new deal before the start of training camp, and now that has been accomplished. White caught 63 balls for 711 yards and three touchdowns last year, his lowest totals since 2006. White will look to improve on those numbers as Falcons WR Julio Jones returns to the team this season following a foot injury that kept him out most of last year. FANTASY ANALYSIS: With HBO's "Hard Knocks" coming to town for training camp,…
  • Ravens RB Ray Rice to receive two-game suspension

    24 Jul 2014 | 8:58 am
ProFootballTalk reports that Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice will be suspended two games for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. Rice was caught on tape striking his wife unconscious in an Atlantic City casino elevator on February 15. He originally faced a felony assault charge, but enrolled in a pretrial intervention program that will allow him to avoid jail time. Rice will miss the first two games of the season against the Bengals and the Steelers. FANTASY ANALYSIS: There's a lot of much-warranted discussion taking place right now about the message the NFL is sending by suspending…

    24 Jul 2014 | 8:44 am
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Justin Blackmon was arrested Wednesday night after police found marijuana in his car during a routine traffic stop, according to Newson6.com. Last October, Blackmon was served a one-year suspension without pay by the Jaguars for his substance abuse problems. He has now missed 14 games in his two NFL seasons due to drug-related suspensions, and it looks as though that number will be increasing. FANTASY ANALYSIS: This story isn't surprising, but it is sad. Blackmon has flashed tremendous potential when he's been on the field for the Jaguars, particularly in…

    8 Jul 2014 | 8:04 am
The post Rookie Redraft Values appeared first on Fantasy Football Xtreme.Despite the hype they receive from pre-draft coverage through the OTAs with their new teams, rookies disappoint in redraft leagues and this year will be no exception. Most fantasy owners focus on the rookie running backs in redraft leagues as they have the shortest route to earning playing time. This year will be no exception, but the talent level is not what it has been in the past. Fantasy owners should not expect similar production to what they have seen in the last few years. In 2012 we had Doug Martin (RB2, 3.01),…

In 2013 Andre Williams ran for 2177 yards and 18 touchdowns for Boston College, so we know he can handle a heavy workload and potentially be a productive runner between the tackles. The…

Our league is drafting live and it's an auction draft. We're not sure if the wifi will support 12 simultaneous connections so we're thinking of using software to run the auction. 24 Jul 2014 | 1:01 pm
It seems like its almost impossible to get any deal done. I have Michael Floyd and am stacked at WR. This other team NEEDS WR help and just because Floyd(who for two years has been behind the great Fitzgerald) hasn't officially broken out yet he's looked as damaged goods. I felt a Bell/ Burfict for Floyd deal was more than fair.   thoughts? How is it possible to deal players when the other team only wants your players that have already broken out. It's funny, if Floyd breakouts out this year and has a top 10 season he'll probably come back, but by then  I'll just hold out for a…
  • When to start drafting a top tier D/ST?

    24 Jul 2014 | 10:45 am
Obviously this will depend your league's on scoring rules, but is there a general consensus?   Last year I was the first to take a D/ST with Seattle in the 4th round of a 14-team league. Ended up being a good move. Seattle was solid and consistent pretty much all year. Also, fairly valuable in my league. Scoring heirarchy for my league usually ends up looking like this:   1. QB - (top scoring QBs ~400 total pts, obvious outliers with Peyton and Brees) 2. RB/Flex/WR - (250 each) 3. D/ST (200) 4. K (170) 5. TE (160, not including Jimmy Graham... he ruins off the curve)   Is…
  • Do you believe the NFL should suspend players for Marijauna?

    24 Jul 2014 | 10:41 am
We are losing some very entertaining players to marijauna use in the NFL. I understand the NFL has it listed on their banned substances list but so does the NBA to my knowledge and they have never suspended 1 player over it. The NFL to my knowledge is the only professional sport of the major 4 which bans the use of marijauna and suspends players over it or is testing for this substance.    The reason why so many folks have no mercy for players like Josh Gordon is because they themselves don't think smoking marijauna or testing positive for it in the first place is really that big of…

  • Christine Michael Becomes Valuable Fantasy Commodity with Marshawn Lynch Holdout

    24 Jul 2014 | 7:16 pm
After barely seeing the field as a rookie, Christine Michael has the potential to be a breakout star for fantasy owners this season. The Seattle Seahawks have relied on Marshawn Lynch to be the workhorse at running back over the past few seasons, and it has led to plenty of success for both the team and the player. In the past three years, Lynch has totaled 4,051 rushing yards and 35 touchdowns while helping the squad win Super Bowl XLVIII. Unfortunately, this partnership has gone through a bit of a rough patch as Lynch prepares to hold out of training camp in search of a new contract.
  • Fantasy Football Predictions 2014: Bold Projections for Stars on the Rise

Bold fantasy football predictions always get a bad rap. After all, in the dog days of summer with the season still on the distant horizon, it is rather easy to sit back in the armchair and scoff at any and all hypothetical musings. Look at last year. Anybody who predicted Andy Dalton and Nick Foles scoring more fantasy points than Tom Brady deserves a medal. Ditto for anyone who thought Keenan Allen, as a rookie, would break into the top 20 scorers. Yet, a deep dive into the players themselves, the situations and more can surely lead to some surefire bold predictions each offseason, no…

There are a lot of candidates, and everyone will have his opinion of which player is the one you're looking for. We have the best points-per-reception (PPR)-league sleepers you should be looking for, relative to their draft position, right here in this slideshow. Often this helps in evaluating player and situational value change in the future. This off-season there was a major departure from Seattle with Golden Tate leaving for Detroit. Tate was Russell Wilson’s top receiver, and more importantly, his safety valve in times of distress. Now, just a few days ago, Sidney Rice announced his retirement from the game at the age of 27. Though Rice didn’t have a spectacular 2013 season by any means, he was…

  • Justin Blackmon Arrested On Suspicion Of Marijuana Possession

    Adam Inman
    24 Jul 2014 | 10:00 pm
The roller coaster that has been the NFL career for Justin Blackmon took another tumble when Blackmon was arrested Wednesday night in Edmond, Oklahoma for suspicion of marijuana possession. While his on the field play shows the potential to be a truly dominant receiver, he has become far better known for his off the field drug and alcohol related issues. Suspended indefinitely by the league in early November of 2013 for a 2nd violation of the league’s substance abuse policy, his 2014 season was already in serious jeopardy. Though his talent is undeniable, with his 3rd violation…
  • Chiefs Reward Charles With Two Year Extension

    Adam Inman
    24 Jul 2014 | 9:58 pm
Jamaal Charles‘ hold out for a new contract lasted all of 4 hours, as Wednesday afternoon the Kansas City Chiefs announced a two-year extension for the bell cow running back. Last year’s salary saw Charles outside the top 15 RB contracts in the NFL and the new extension (two years $18.1 million) lands him just behind the top RB earner, Adrian Peterson. Though the new deal contains no guaranteed money after 2014, it is difficult to imagine a scenario in which the Chiefs cut ties with the star RB after the 2014 season. Charles is the center piece of a Chiefs team that shocked the…

    Fantasy Football Junkie
    24 Jul 2014 | 9:04 pm
In a crowded backfield that includes Shane Vereen, Stevan Ridley and Brandon Bolden, James White appears to be making the most of his time on the field by impressing the New England Patriots RB coach Ivan Fears.Fears said that, “He runs like a big guy for a little guy… It’s hard not to be in love with him.” Those are strong words for a rookie at this stage but often times this happens in all camps. Great things are said about lots of guys and once things get going a lot of these same guys are out of work in a year or don’t even make the active roster. …
  • Raven’s Running Back Ray Rice Suspended First Two Games Of 2014

    Christopher Ziza
    24 Jul 2014 | 11:07 am
We all knew that it was a matter of time until Baltimore Ravens star running back Ray Rice would be slapped with a suspension after he had an altercation with his wife Janay back in February in Atlantic City when Rice allegedly struck his then-fiancee. Today we found out his fate. Rice will be suspended the first two games of the 2014 season in which the Ravens play the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers and then he will also lose a third game check. This punishment comes with the expectation that Rice will continue to seek the counseling that he had signed up for and been accepted…
  • Seahawks WR Sidney Rice Retires At 27

    Adam Inman
    23 Jul 2014 | 7:23 pm
Seattle Seahawks WR Sidney Rice decided to hang up his cleats today after attempting to recover from multiple knee procedures. Rice was signed to a 5 year $41 million dollar contract by Seahawks following his 2009 breakout season with the Vikings that saw him reel in 83 passes for 1312 yards and 8 TDs. Though he never lived up to the contract from a performance standpoint, Rice had some memorable catches during Seattle’s 2012 playoff run and was always a fixture of leadership in the locker room. He was cut this off season and resigned on a one year incentive laden deal for just above…

Carolina Panthers 2013-14 Fantasy Football Breakdown The Carolina Panthers took the league by storm in 2013. Many felt they could rise up and be tough competition, but few actually pegged them as a legit threat to the NFC South division. Even fewer expected them to actually win the division and secure a first round playoff bye. They did both and looked dominant on defense in the process, while also producing some solid numbers via some players in fantasy football. Cam Newton was still king king in the fantasy world out of Carolina, but tight end Greg Olsen saw a career season thanks to a lack…

Rob Gronkowski 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook Rob Gronkowski hasn’t had an easy go of it when you look at his injury history. Even back when the New England Patriots threw caution to the wind and drafted him in 2010, he came out of Arizona with some reasonable back issues. Those back issues came back in a way last off-season, and combined together with ankle and arm injuries to help Gronkowski miss 14 of his last 32 possible regular season games. A knee injury sustained in week 14 of last season was added to the pile and contributed to three of those missed games. It appears Gronkowski…

    23 Jul 2014 | 7:16 am
Is Tom Coughlin On the Hot Seat? Tom Coughlin is one of the most highly respected and most successful coaches in the NFL. I truly believe that he is the best coach that the New York Giants ever had. He led the Giants to 2 Super Bowls: Super Bowls XLII and XLVI. He is one of 19 coaches with a perfect Super Bowl record (2-0). He is just the second man in Giants history to coach the team for at least 11 consecutive seasons, behind Hall of Famer Steve Owen, who reigned for 24 seasons. The great stats and achievements of Tom Coughlin don’t guarantee him a longer tenure as Giant’s coach though.

Aaron Rodgers 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook In order for the Green Bay Packers to succeed this season, they need their ever reliable quarterback Aaron Rodgers.  The Packers struggled after losing him due to injury and they almost missed the playoffs! There is no doubt that Aaron Rodgers is indeed the machine that gets the Packers going. With a full offseason to recover, it is expected that Rodgers will be 100% by the time the new season begins. At a fantasy football point of view, he is still a great and reliable QB to pick. In fact, he is among the top 3 fantasy football quarterbacks to get…

Fantasy football sleepers are a big area of analysis. The reason why is that they can give your team and draft a ton more value. Who are some deep sleepers? • 2014 Fantasy Football: Can Matt Forte Be a Top-5 Running Back Again?

  • Breaking Fantasy Football News: Ray Rice Gets 2-Game Ban

    24 Jul 2014 | 8:14 am
The Baltimore Ravens got great news today, as the NFL handed down a relatively minor two-game suspension to running back Ray Rice for beating his wife. Rice was expected to get a suspension more in the four-to-six game area, which had previously prompted fantasy football experts to drop him down their rankings for 2014. Bernard Pierce became a hot commodity as Rice’s early season replacement, while Rice’s fantasy value took a staggering dive into round six of drafts, if not later. With just two missed games to start the season, though, a reportedly trimmed down and “lighter…
  • Breaking Fantasy Football News: Tre Mason Just a Change of Pace Back?

    Kevin Roberts
    23 Jul 2014 | 3:27 pm
The St. Louis Rams drafted Auburn running back Tre Mason to beef up their rushing attack. That doesn’t necessarily mean he was brought in to compete for current starter Zac Stacy‘s job. Head coach Jeff Fisher said shortly after the draft that Mason was more of a “change of pace” running back, and that he was being added to the backfield to help switch things up and to relieve Stacy of the pressure of a full load. Fisher cited Mason’s zone running and the fact that his impressive college numbers “speak for themselves”. Fisher also admitted that aside…
  • Jamaal Charles and Chiefs Agree to $18 Million Extension

    Kevin Roberts
    23 Jul 2014 | 3:13 pm
Jamaal Charles incredible hold out lasted about a day. The Kansas City Chiefs running back, aka the team’s entire offense in 2013, had every reason to desire a fatter contract, as he out-played the majority of the league a year ago but remained arguably vastly underpaid. In fact, Charles was set to make just $3.9 million this year, while Adrian Peterson paced all running backs with $14 million. The next running backs in line still hauled in a hefty $7-9 million, annually. After easily his best season as a pro, in which Charles totaled over 300 total touches, 1,900+ total yards and 19…

Yesterday, we had the awful news that the Denver Broncos had decided to release backup tight end Joel Dreessen after he failed his physical. And today, an even bigger bombshell dropped on us without any warning whatsoever. Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Sidney Rice has announced that he will retire from the NFL. The Sweet Bird of Youth is still fluttering ever so gently around the 27-year-old pass-catcher, but he’s decided to hang up his cleats following his team’s Super Bowl run last year. The Seahawks cut Rice earlier in the year in a move that saved them from paying this spare…
